A little catch up…

I definitely didn’t mean to stay away from blogging that long after Christmas, but my computer was acting up and I think it’s finally gotten out of it’s rebellious teenager stageSmile

On Christmas Eve, I had to work until 12pm, which was lots of fun. After work, we packed everything up and headed to a Christmas celebration with Mr.D’s side of the family. His mom’s cousin hosts the party every year at her log cabin right on the lake…it’s so gorgeous! And every year there are carols to be sung Smile 166430_475312120879_596470879_6384384_5801718_n
My FIL and niece

On Christmas morning, we went to my BIL’s house for breakfast and to watch our niece open up her first Christmas presents. She loved every minute of it and was definitely spoiled!  After breakfast, we headed back to my in-law’s house and I helped make Christmas dinner. All of the family came over around 4ish and in total there were 14 of us total. 167219_475313065879_596470879_6384419_1606298_n

While we were home for Christmas, it was our niece’s first birthday so we were able to go to her party. She was so happy all day and I think she enjoyed the spotlight.

I hope everyone had a fabulous Christmas and wish you a happy new year!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I have to work a half day today and then we are off to spend time with our family. I must say though, it doesn’t quite feel like Christmas to me yet…please tell me I’m not the only one!

I doubt that I will be blogging this weekend, so I hope that everyone has a very Merry Christmas and enjoys the holiday season with their family and friends Smile

That silly dog…

So every night Mr.D and I go into our basement to watch tv as that’s where our tv is. There is a door at the first set of stairs that lead to and from the basement, which we keep shut so Harley doesn’t run upstairs and pee before we can make it up there. For some reason, there are nights where he wants nothing to do with being downstairs so he will sit on the stairs.

This is how I found him tonight when I came around the corner:

I don’t have a clue how that is comfortable for him, but it seriously made me laugh!

On another note, I did this work out on Sunday and my abs, legs and arms hurt sooo bad the next day! It took me 10 minutes and 48 seconds to do. So a really fast work out, but it’s killer!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

{weekend recap}

Can someone please invent the trick to make the weekend last longer and the week go by faster?! I still can’t believe that next weekend is Christmas…I’m just not in that spirit yet.

On Friday night, Mr.D and I went out to celebrate his birthday to a restaurant called Charcut, which is in the downtown area. We had heard really good things about the restaurant from friends, but overall neither of us were really super impressed by it. The food was good, but for the price it wasn’t worth it to us.  I think the atmosphere really put us off too..there was a table of 4 ladies close to us who were really loud and we couldn’t quite hear our own thoughts over them. And our server was kind of weird and took forever to get us stuff. Oh well, you win some you lose some.

On Saturday, Mr.D’s parent’s came down for a visit. My MIL and I made perogies…they are quite the work, but so good! We ended up making about 6 dozen. Later that night, we went out for dinner to celebrate Mr.D’s birthday again, but with his parent’s this time Smile

Yesterday, we had brunch and then Mr.D’s parent’s headed home. Just a quick visit, but it was nice to see them. I spent the rest of the day making Christmas cookies (so hard not to eat them!).

How was your weekend? What did you do?

{happy friday}

Happy Friday everyone! It’s crazy that a week from now it will be Christmas (well Christmas eve). It doesn’t quite feel like Christmas to me yet.

Sorry for the lack of posting for the past two days. On Wednesday, my work flew us up to Edmonton (to our main office) for our Christmas party. Unfortunately, Edmonton got a HUGE snowstorm the same day, so my flight home was delayed for over 4 hours. I was supposed to be home around 7, but didn’t get home until 11:15pm. I had a great time, but it was a super long day so I had no energy to blog last night.  I can’t imagine travelling on a constant basis for work in this weather!

This weekend, we are:

  • going out for dinner tonight in celebration of Mr.D’s birthday (happy belated birthday Mr.D!)
  • Mr.D’s parent’s are coming to visit on Saturday
  • my MIL and I might make perogies on Saturday…I’ve never made them so it should be fun!

Happy Friday everyone and I hope you have a fabulous weekend!

DIY Holiday Wreath

I’ve been meaning to blog about this for a while, so I apologize!  Back in November when Christmas projects began to have a presence in the blogsphere, I was inspired by Lacey's carnation wreath. She made her wreath using carnations found at Wal-mart but I had zero luck finding any. I decided that I could make a similar wreath but using my tutorial to make tissue paper pomanders.

I started and finished the project over the course of a few nights, which was great. The worst part of the project is definitely making each tissue paper ‘flower’.

Here is how it turned out:

Don’t mind me in the mirror Smile

It adds the perfect amount of ‘holiday cheer’ to our entranceway and it only cost me about $10 to make!

Do you have any fast and easy holiday projects?

{weekend recap}

Another weekend has come and gone too fast! I can’t believe that one more weekend Christmas will be here! Just craziness.

On Friday night, we went to Mr.D’s work party. It was pretty low key, but still fun. They do a Chinese gift grab and it is hilarious to watch everyone fight over certain gifts.

Saturday was a pretty low key morning. We tricked Harley to sleep until 9 am, which was fabulous! Later in the afternoon Mr.D, Harley and I went to Alison’s house to hang out with her, Justin and Cruz. Harley and Cruz had a great time playing together for a solid 3 hours!  We all couldn’t believe that neither gave up that entire time. It was great to finally meet Justin after reading about him on their blogSmile  Harley slept for the drive home and basically that whole evening after their puppy play date, it was hilarious! Thanks again Alison for having us over Smile

Yesterday we had to run a few errands, but basically spent the day at home. It was quite nice because this week is super busy for me at work and then this weekend, Mr.D’s parent’s are coming down for the weekend.

How was your weekend? What were you up to?

{what i’m loving}

As always, I am doing the {what i’m loving} Wednesday post on Thursday. But as of next week, my {wedding wednesday} posts are all done, so I’ll be doing it on Wednesday. Make sure you check out Jamie's fabulous blog!

This week, I am loving:

{one} I won my first giveaway! I seriously have the worst luck ever, and never win anything. I entered a giveaway on a whim and it was my lucky day! Thanks again Danica!

{two} Nice people. Yesterday, I went to the post office to mail two packages for my family for Christmas. The lady behind the counter gave me her discount for small businesses which saved me money! It was definitely appreciated and totally unexpected.

{three} It’s almost Friday! The past week and a half have been really busy at work, so I am looking forward to the weekend.

{four} My lovely blog followers! Thank each and every one of you who leaves me sweet comments day in and day out. I definitely appreciate them! Smile

Happy Thursday everyone!

{wedding wednesday} day after shoot

Well, I’ve finally come to the end of our wedding recap posts and it makes me sadSad smile It really feels like yesterday that we were finishing up the planning and celebrating our wedding day.

With our wedding photography package, it included a ‘day after’ shoot. I know not many people have heard of these, but it’s basically an hour or so with your photographer dressed in your wedding day outfits. It’s a great opportunity to take more pictures and you are of course more relaxed than on the wedding day. We did ours about a month and a half after our wedding and it was fun to put on my wedding dress again. Thank goodness it still fit! We met with our photographer pretty early in the morning and went to a camp ground/beach about 30 minutes outside of Edmonton. It was a little chilly that day, but definitely worth it for the pictures!

WARNING: Lots of pictures ahead!
