{home tour tuesday} Spare bedrooms

I ran out of time to finish off the {home tour tuesday} series before the wedding, so this week I am going to finish it off. This week's tour is about our two spare bedrooms and spare bathroom.

Bedroom #1. Don't mind the crumpled bed spread :)

Bedroom #2

Another view. Don't mind my hot pink sweater and crazy hair in the reflection!
That's the end of the {home tour tuesday} series. Hope you enjoyed seeing the house of the D's!

Hope you have a great day!

{weekend recap}

Can the weekends start slowing down please?! I thought I was busy during the wedding planning, but somehow the busy has stayed around. And this weekend was pretty cold, which makes me sad that summer is over. I'm not ready for fall and winter quite yet!

On Friday night, we went to one of Mr.D's co-workers, who lives just up the street from us for a BBQ. He had another couple friend over, so it was fun to hang out and meet some new people in our area.

On Saturday, we drove up to Edmonton because Mr.D had a rugby game. It was so windy that day, which made watching the game not so much fun. We were both tired after the game, so we hung out and had dinner with his parent's and spent the night watching tv. Kind of lame, but just what we wanted!

Yesterday, Mr.D lined up nice and early for the new iphone while I had a delightful sleep in. I think we were both happy with our choices :) We did some running around in the afternoon. It was Mr.D's grandpa's 95th birthday, so we went out for a family dinner to The Keg. So delicious! We didn't get home until around 10pm, so that was basically it for us.

Can't wait for the long weekend so I can have some time to work on some of the projects that I have in my mind!

Hope you had a great weekend!

{happy friday}

For my first week back to work in almost two weeks, it went really fast! The worst are the days that just drag on and on.

Last night, Mr.D and I went out for sushi (we can't get enough of it!) and went to see the movie Dinner for Schmucks. A little impromptu date night...love those!

This weekend, we are going to a BBQ at one of Mr.D's co-workers houses tonight. On Saturday we are off to Edmonton again for Mr.D's rugby game and then on Sunday there is a birthday dinner for his grandpa who is turning 95!!

I'm excited that next weekend is a long weekend, so we can finally hang out around the house and get things organized and put away from the wedding. So looking forward to it!

Hope you have a great weekend!

I left my heart in San Fran {part three}

On our third day in San Francisco, we went to Alcatraz island. We had pre-bought our tickets on-line, so all we had to do is line up at our boarding time. The ferry ride to Alcatraz is about 15 minutes and there is a ferry returning to San Francisco about every 30-45 minutes.

While we were at Alcatraz, we did the audio tour which was more interesting than we thought it was going to be. Not going to lie, we got a little bored of it after a while, so we stopped the audio tour and just went walking around on our own. Overall, it was interesting to see, but we were kind of annoyed that a lot of areas were closed off to the general public.

The view as you come onto Alcatraz

Old run down buildings on the island. Another day without a single cloud in the sky!

Haha Mr.D in one of the cells

The view of Alcatraz while we were walking around

Later in the afternoon, we went on a trolley car adventure to find Ike's Place, which I saw on Meghann's blog when she was in San Francisco. Ike's place is literally a hole in the wall...only enough room for them to make the sandwiches and for one person at a time to pay. When we got there, there was quite a line up already but they moved through everyone really fast. I had the 1/2 spiffy tiffy, which was so good! I ate about half of the sandwich was so full! Mr.D had the M.I.L.F....which included stuffed jalepeno poppers. I think he might have died and gone to heaven when eating that sandwich!

Ike's place..so small, yet so delicious!

Other than that, we hung out in our hotel a lot that day as we were both really tired. Go to Ike's place if you are ever in San Francisco!

I left my heart in San Fran {part two}

Wednesday was our first full day in San Francisco and as the weather was beautiful, we decided to rent bikes from Blazing Saddles, which has a few locations in the San Francisco area. I think it was about ~$40/person for the day to rent the bikes, which was kind of expensive, but worth it!

Mr.D on our way to the Golden Gate Bridge

Almost there- looking out towards the city of San Fran

Getting even closer!

Myself about half way across the bridge. Not a single cloud in the sky that day!

After we crossed the bridge, we decided to keep biking into the town of Sausalito. Neither of us brought a watch and we forgot our Garmin, so I have no idea how long it took us or how far it was. Sausalito is such a gorgeous little town! We stopped for a quick lunch and then kept biking to the Old Mill Park (not sure if that's the correct name). After the park, we were both pretty tired as it was hot that day, so we decided to take the ferry back from Sausalito.

On the ferry ride back to San Fran. Don't mind the huge water spot over my eye :)

That night, we went out for dinner to a place called the Franciscan. Mr.D had heard good things about it and really wanted to try crab. Overall, it was pretty good. I wasn't super impressed with my meal choice, but the crab that Mr.D had was very tasty!

Haha I love Mr.D's bib!

**Just a warning, I am going to be linking to most of the places that we went and things we did in San Francisco. I was searching for blogs with things to do and restaurants to go to before our trip, so hopefully these posts will be helpful for someone

I left my heart in San Fran {part one}

As you know, Mr.D and I went to San Francisco for our honeymoon. It was such a great decision on our part...how can you not love that city?!

We left on Tuesday around 1pm our time and arrived in San Francisco around 3-4pm. The flight was nothing exciting, but both of us were pretty excited to land and see the city! We decided to use the BART system to get to our hotel, which was pretty easy to use. We stayed at the Mark Hopkins InterContinental, which was in the Nob Hill area. Such a great idea as it was close to the Powell and California cable car lines, which made it easy to get anywhere!

The view of our hotel from the front

The view from our room

Once we figured out the BART and cable cars, we made it to our hotel. We were both tired from the wedding and travelling, so we just explored the area and found a place for dinner.

Mr.D really excited on a cable car, haha
That night, we decided to try Straits restaurant, which is a modern Singaporean style restaurant We shared the chicken lollipops, butter chicken and coconut fried rice. Everything was delicious!

Tomorrow...biking of the Golden Gate Bridge and Sausalito!

I'm back!

I'm excited to be back into the swing of things and have my routine back, but I am sad that the wedding is over, the honeymoon is over and my family has all gone home. Not going to lie, not really excited to go back to work either. Can I have a vacation from my vacation?

This post is going to be short as we got back from the honeymoon late on Saturday night and then some family and friends came into town yesterday and stayed over last night. I love having guests as we don't get them often enough, but I'm ready to have some free time as well.

I will be back tomorrow to start the honeymoon recaps and to tell a little more about the wedding.

Have a great day!

I'm married!!!

Saturday was an amazing day! We had a few minor snaffu's, but nothing that couldn't be fixed. My family is still in town and we leave on Tuesday for our honeymoon, so this post will be short. I will be back to update you with more pictures after the honeymoon!

Here are a few pictures to tide you over until then :)

Tomorrow!

Just a quick post before the wedding! The last few days have been a whirl wind, but in a good way. My mom flew in on Tuesday night, we drove up to Edmonton on Wednesday and tonight was my mini stagette. So much fun!

Today we are arranging all of the centrepieces and then making all of the bouquets. Then it's time for family to arrive and rehearsal dinner time. Can't wait!

I still can't believe that the big day is almost here! The time has flown by so fast lately, especially this past week. Definitely felt lots of love from our family and friends this week so far.

See you in a few days when I'll be a Mrs!

Rambles

My brain is everywhere this week except work and coming up with a post! So, this post will be in bullet format.

  • I am getting married in 4 days! 4 day! That's crazy talk! I am so excited for all of our family and friends to come together and have fun. And I can't wait to see how everything comes together
  • I watched the premier of the Bachelor Pad last night. This could be good and it could be a total train wreck. I didn't really want to watch, but it totally sucked me in.
  • So excited that my mom is coming tonight. Can't wait to see her again!
  • Last day of work today and I have a feeling that it is going to go so slowly.
  • Has anyone watched the show called If You Really Knew on MTV? I've caught a couple of episodes so far and quite enjoy it. High school is a terrible time if you are anything but "normal", so it's cool to see all of the kids from different backgrounds, cliques, etc come together. A few of the stories have made me cry already!
  • On Thursday night, my bridesmaids are throwing me a mini stagette. We are getting mani/pedi's and then going out for dinner. Quite excited to have everyone together finally!

I don't know if I will be able to post again for the wedding, so I hope everyone has a great rest of the week! I will be back after the wedding to post a few sneak peeks!

{weekend recap}

Another weekend has come and gone super fast! Although I would like time to pass quickly so Saturday comes and for my mom to be here, I don't want to go by fast at the same time. Make any sense?

Friday night we had to run a bunch of errands. They included: getting my ring cleaned (it's sparkly again!), get a refund from The Brick, look for a deep freezer. All exciting stuff I know! That was about it for this household on Friday night.

On Saturday, I had a few more errands to run that included returning a few things. I also went for a 17k bike ride in the afternoon. I ran out of water with 5k still to go, so I was so tired and hot when I got home. Felt really good though! We watched the movie Green Zone, which was pretty good. I definitely would never want to be in the army, but give props to those who are.

Yesterday, I baked some cookies for the out of town bags. It was so hard to not eat more than two...just had to keep reminding myself that I have a wedding dress to fit into in 5 days!! Other than that, I didn't do much except clean our house a bit for my family to come. I was able to get the last few wedding projects done, which was nice.

What were you up to this weekend?

Memories of us {part one}

As the wedding gets closer and closer, I thought I would do a little look back on how far Mr.D and I have come in the 3.5 years that we've been together. The post would be too picture heavy if I did all of the years, so I'm going to break it up and finish it tomorrow.

When we met in Mexico. February 2007. So young!

{wedding wednesday}

Holy crap batman, there are only 10 days until the wedding!! That is beyond crazy to me. And next week it will be even crazier that the wedding is only 3 days until the wedding! I am starting to get nervous, but in an excited way. I am ready to see how everything comes together and to finally put on my dress!

This weekend, I finally had time to sit down and work on some wedding related projects. I finished:

1) The programs (and started in one day! haha)
2) Table challenges
  • the best one by far is having to acquire a condom and give it to one of my bridesmaids! haha
3) Finalized the seating plan
4) Bought a clutch
5) Bought false eye lashes and mascara for the wedding day
6) Out of town information packets

I still have to finish:
1) The reserved signs for the chairs for the ceremony
  • We are having chairs for our parents and grandparents and everyone else will be standing
2) Escort cards
  • I need to write out the names and table numbers on each one
3) Spray paint the box for the programs
4) Send wedding day details to our photographer

For some reason blogger is not liking me today, or else I would have shown you pictures of the clutch that I bought and the finished programs. I will try again tomorrow!

For you married blog readers out there, any pieces of advice in my final days before the wedding?!

{home tour tuesday} Master bedroom & bathroom

This weekend flew by! It was awesome to be able to hang out at home and work on house and wedding related projects. I went for a bike ride everyday and my legs are super tight now! I also never realized how hilly our area was until I started biking, haha.

This week on {home tour tuesday} is all about the master bedroom and bathroom. We finally got our bedroom suite just over two weeks ago, so it finally semi looks like a bedroom. I still need to find a nice duvet set and pictures for the wall. Maybe after the wedding.
