That post where she gets angry: part three

Last year, I did a post about my pet peeves when it comes to blogging. You can find that post here. Don't get me wrong, I love blogging and all of the good things that has come from it, but sometimes it drives me nuts.

{one} word verification
This was number one on my last post and still tops the list. I can't stand trying to figure out what the heck the mumble jumble of a word is! They never make any sense and I end up getting it wrong and then give up on leaving a comment.

{two} leaving your blog url in your comment
For some reason, this really bugs me. I know that people do it to get their blog seen by more people, but if I want to read someone's blog, I will go to it myself. It feels like I HAVE to read their blog when people do this.

{three} never responding to comments
If your reader leaves you a comment asking a question and has an e-mail linked to their comment, why not take the two seconds to respond back to that person? I can understand if it's a blog with a large audience, but if not, it doesn't take long to respond to your reader.

{four} over sharing of new posts
On one hand, I like when people tweet a link to their new post on Twitter as it makes it easier for me to stay up to date. But, on the other hand, it drives me nuts when people share it multiple times in an hour or so. Or multiple tweets in a row with the link to it.

Tell me: what drives you nuts when it comes to blogging?

  1. I hate word verification too! It honestly takes me 3-4 attempts every time.

  2. Word verification is super annoying. I think it's a default setting on Blogger and I only noticed I had it on recently. I love when bloggers tweet about a new post since that's how I keep up now but you're right, multiple tweets in a short time frame aren't necessary!

  4. Word verification = lameeee. I get them wrong SO much, lol!

And I hate my twitter being spammed with the links to new posts over and over and over again! I don't understand the point of sending it out, like you said, multiple times in an hour!!

  6. I agree with 99% of this post, although sometimes I think I responded and then realize I didn't... blogger fail!!! But then I usually respond later!!

  7. I couldn't agree more!! But the biggest pet peeve has to be the word verification (I promise I'm not a robot!!) I don't get angry but rather sad with the comment thing... It is common decency and just being polite! x

  8. #1 is word verification for me too! I have written good comments before and not posted because I had to fight with the damn verification thingy....

  9. Phew, I don't think I'm guilty of any of these. Word verification= lame sauce. And as far as responding to comments goes, I always TRY to, but sometimes I read them on my phone when I am out and about and I forget to! fail on my part.

What I hate about the bloggity blog world is that a lot of the bigger bloggers (most of them are in the states) tend to group together- and they get EVERYTHING comped and when they go to the same events, it's like they all write the same friggin posts. (I think part of me is secretly jealous)

  10. I HATE word verification too!

I suck at responding to comments, I usually read them quickly on my phone and then delete and really ONLY respond if someone asks a specific question.

  11. Word verification should be banned! I can never get it right!

I think I'm guilty of the url in my signature- as you can see it hasn't gotten me a ton of readers but I'm too lazy to change it! Not sure if this is what you mean about in the comment...

I actually stopped following some big blogs because I was never getting responses to my comments. That wasn't the only reason, but I didn't feel like I had a connection with the blogger so I didn't feel bad when I stopped following.

You'll never see me over share my new posts! Not on Twitter or linked to FB. It's very annoying though.

What else do I hate??? No-reply blogger. I'm so thankful you showed me how to change my settings so that my comments can be replied to. I never check back other people's blog posts to see the answer to my question which is why I don't like some of those fancy comment things like Discus.

  13. Word verification is annoying... especially if you're trying to comment on a cell phone.

Totally agree about the comments! Obviously if it's just something like "I love your outfit" ... there isn't much to respond with. But if it's something like "I love your boots, where did you get them?" - a response would be much appreciated :)

  15. Eeek!! I was totally guilty of the word verification! In my defense I didn't realize I had it one until someone told me how hard it was to figure out (thanks Alison!!). I took it off right away! I'm glad she told me! I hate the word verification too! It drives me crazy.

  17. Ha, I agree with all of these! Especially word verification. It's HORRID now that you have to type a word and a number.

  18. I hate word verification as well...except - I'm currently getting about 20-30 spam comments a day. So I'm wondering if word verification would help that. I'm not going to turn it back on, but ugh it is frustrating.
