Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone! Even though I was just off for three weeks, I am excited that the weekend is here :) Here are my five things for today:

(1) It's a long weekend in Canada (maybe it is in the states too?) and I am excited to have a three day weekend! The weather is actually looking really nice, so hopefully it stays that way.

(2) I was coming into the house last night after CrossFit and dropped my iphone on our cement steps. Womp screen shattered on the bottom left corner. Luckily, I can still use it. I am eligible for a free upgrade, but I wasn't planning on getting a new phone yet. Does anyone know if you can change your number to another phone with the same company? Mr.D has an iphone that works perfectly fine and is with the same company as mine, so I was thinking about just seeing if I could switch the phones.

(3) I am not quite ready for summer to be over yet (I hate when it gets dark early!), but I am excited for fall tv to start again. Homeland, Sons of Anarchy, etc. There goes all my free time, haha.

(4) Has anyone ordered a photo book from Blurb before? I really want to make one from our Europe trip instead of printing a butt load of pictures, but wasn't sure about the quality.

(5) That's all I have for today, so happy Friday and have a great weekend everyone!

Europe 2013: London

After our first couple of days in Wales, we caught a train from Cardiff into London. Before our trip, I was searching for a place to stay and decided to find somewhere through Airbnb, which was a great experience. We stayed in someone's flat in a separate bedroom and had our own really nice bathroom. The flat was less than ten minute walk to the metro and was really centrally located. Plus, the owners were a fun German couple, who had traveled the world for fourteen months. It was neat to hear their stories! If anyone is looking for a place in London, this is where we stayed.

After dropping off our bags at the flat, we headed out to see some of the sights. We took the metro to the Big Ben and London Eye. From there, we decided to walk along the river and walked all the way to the Tower Bridge. It was quite the walk, but it was a perfect day for it :)

Oh I forgot to mention the crazy crowds!

The next day, we enjoyed breakfast at the flat and then headed out to see the changing of the guards ceremony. We arrived close to 30 minutes before it started, and we were so glad we did! There was so many people! It was neat to see, but we ended up leaving a bit before the end because the crowds were too crazy for us.

After the changing of the guards ceremony, we headed out to find this restaurant that Mr.D and his mom had ate at almost seven years prior. With only Mr.D's general recollection of where it was and a picture of the outside, we luckily were able to find it. I think Mr.D was in heaven!

The rest of the afternoon was spent wandering around Piccadilly Circus, Covent Gardens and Portobello Road, which had tonnes of cool little shops. We ended up sitting on a patio having a drink and people watching for a while.

Overall, we both really enjoyed London. The metro was easy to use and there was lots of stuff to see. We would definitely recommend the flat that we stayed in if you are ever in London :)

Europe 2013: Wales

Since our trip was three weeks long, I'll break our trip into multiple posts. That just means more room to post lots of pictures, which is the best part! :)

We left on the Saturday afternoon flying from Calgary into London (Gatwick). We arrived early on the Sunday morning (around 6am...yuck!). Once we had our bags, we hopped on the train to Wales. It was about a three hour trip with lots of stops along the way. We arrived in Llantwit around 1pm and Mr.D's friends picked us up from the train station. The reason we were heading to Wales was because Mr.D had played rugby there for six months before we met and still had friends living there.

The afternoon was spent catching up with our friends and then we headed to a BBQ at the rugby club that they kindly put on for us. Mr.D loved having the chance to see friends he had made there and played rugby with.

The next day we drove into Cardiff to tour around. The weather wasn't the greatest, so we spent time in the mall dodging the rain storms.

The sun was finally shining the next day, so we headed to Tenby which is a cute beach town in SW Wales. It was a fun day enjoying the sunshine, beach and friends.

The next day, we enjoyed breakfast in Llantwit, last minute hanging out with our friends and then they drove us into Cardiff to catch our train to London. A great way to start our trip!

Is this thing on?

Well, after a long (for me) blog absence, I decided it was about time to post again! Now I am trying to think about what happened in the last almost two months (crazy it's been that long!) and I am struggling to come up with stuff. The major thing of course was our three week trip to Europe, which was beyond fabulous! I can't believe that it's all over and we are back home already...three weeks went really fast! I am hoping to start blogging this week about our trip :)

Just a few sneak peeks from our trip:

Since I've been gone for a while and didn't read many blogs, tell me what's new with you!
