Five on Friday

Happy Friday everyone! I've had some crappy sleeps this week, so I am very ready for the weekend! Here's my five things for this beautiful Friday {in Calgary at least!}:

{one} holy season opener of Sons of Anarchy batman! So many things happening and questions left unanswered! Is the little boy supposed to be Jax's son? What the heck is going on with that marshal? Can't wait to see how this season unfolds!

{two} I bought a kettle bell last night, so I decided to come up with a workout and it was a good one! Took me just under 20 minutes to complete the four rounds, but I was sweating by the end!

4 rounds for time:

10 burpees
15 KB swings
20 mountain climbers
15 KB swings
30 bicycle crunches
15 KB swings

{three} I am toying with the idea of eating paleo for a month to try it out, but have no idea where to start for information. Anyone have any good links, websites or blogs for me to check out?

{four} the weather has been beyond gorgeous here lately for September! I am not complaining at all because the rain is supposed to come next week and the dreaded S word is not too far off.

{five} what do you think about people throwing their bagged dog poop out in someone's personal garbage bin? As a dog owner, I am totally against this because I wouldn't want someones dog poop in my garbage bin. But I guess it's better than that person just leaving it on the ground. Thoughts?

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I am not sure I could ever do Paleo! I think I would starve lol. I think Becky did a 30 day challenge though. You two are braver than me ;)

  2. Brrr it's supposed to go down to 2 and feel like 0 here over night! Brrr!!! As for the dog poop thing - we just had this happen to us while M was reading on the front porch! This lady was walking on the other side of the street with her kids and dog, the dog pooped, luckily she picked it up, then walked across the street to our garbage can, opened it and put the dog poop in! The kids were yelling at her that someone was outside, but she clearly had no shame in doing it! But into find it weird!! I could understand a garbage at the park or heck even a dumpster. We pay for our garbage here - what if that poop was put me over in weight and they didn't take it (they are soo picky)

  3. We eat Paleo most of the time and find we don't miss the stuff we aren't supposed to eat at all.
I think I would rather have the bag of poop in my garbage than on my lawn. We used to live on a corner lot and people never picked up after thier dog. It drove me crazy.
I have wanted to try kettlebells for awhile and keep eyeing them in the store. If I get some I may have to borrow your workout.

    4. I throw my poop bag in others bin only on Fridays when the bins are out on the street and about to be picked up. Otherwise it's a no!

  5. I think I need to invest in a KB. I have been doing more home workouts since I feel guilty leaving Homie again after getting home from work. This might be a fun new thing to try! I don't think I would mind if someone threw it away in mine, because at least they are picking it up. But, for some reason I feel weird using other people's garbage cans. Happy weekend!! :)

  6. I'm starting to use my KB more these days (it was a gift from my mom a few years back), but would also like to get a heavier one. I have a 10lber.

Also, I know PaleOMG has some good recipes you might want to check out - http://paleomg.com/. I've made a thai curry stir fry thing where you made rice using shredded cauliflower.

  7. We started doing paleo days and I found it really easy to integrate it into how we already eat. I bought the Practical Paleo cook book and have found it really helpful!

Most of the recipes are also on this website. My favs have been the pumkin pancakes and lemon artichoke chicken!!

  8. I think I could eat a partial paleo diet but no way I am giving up my yogurt or cream in my coffee or cheese. You can have the bread (except the occasional cake/cookie) but I NEED the other stuff!

Add me to the list of crappy sleeps this week. Yawn!

I'm loving this weather too! I'm dreading having to wear nylons and coats to work.

  9. I'm against throwing your garbage in someone's personal garbage bin. Use a public one, or carry it. I hate it, drives me crazy when I work at my preschool and people fill up our bins in the back with their garbage. We only get 2 bins, and we have 39 kids, and several garbage bags every day. We need the space. Unfortunately, it needs to stay in the back because of health and safety, we can't keep it in the backyard where we play.

I live in a condo unit, so my garbage is a community bin, but if it was my own place, I would be equally annoyed at people using my bins. Private property is private property. End of discussion.

Sorry, rant! Its a pet peeve!

  11. I would look at doing the WHole30, although its a strict version of Paleo. You can also try PaleOMG.

  12. I would look at Whole30, or PaleOMG. I got through about 18 days of Whole30 before I caved.

Paleo I've had success with, but again, it's pretty restrictive.

  13. I hope you got caught up on sleep this past week. I have not been sleeping well either as I am on a steroid and even the sleep aids my dr subscribed don't seem to help enough as I am wide awake at 4 or 5 each day. So annoying. :(

Good luck w/ checking out Paleo! I hope you find some helpful sites!
