Getting to know you

Since this blog has been all about me and my growing baby belly lately, I thought I'd come up with some questions for you guys to answer. It lets me learn a little more about you :)

{one} if you are driving in traffic and someone pulls in front of you and proceeds to go way slower than the rest of the traffic in your lane, how do you react?

{two} say you had gained a couple pounds recently and someone asked you when you were due (but you weren't pregnant), how would you react?

{three} if you happened upon a bag that contained $10,000 and it was not marked and no one else was around, what would you do with the money?

Let's hear your answers!

{baby d}: week twenty two

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

Feeling: still no major complaints except for some lower right back pain. Headaches have decreased and same with heartburn.

Workouts: three runs {totaling 14kms}, walks with Harley nearly every day, three weight workouts and a tabata style workout

Other: I finally found a prenatal yoga class that I didn't miss the sign up for, so that starts next week. Hopefully it helps with the back pain a little bit. She has been super active in the mornings and evenings this week. I can feel her move around and poke me like crazy, but not strong enough that Mr.D can feel it from the outside yet. Still crazy to me that there is a little baby girl growing in there!

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! It was such a gorgeous looks like fall, but feels like summer type of weekend in Calgary. Much better than the other week we had with the snow.

{friday} is it just me or is it hard to find the energy to do anything on Friday nights? I took Harley for a short walk while Mr.D ran to the mall. The rest of the night was spent watching The Blacklist. Almost through the first season.

{saturday} in the morning, we went to meet a lady that works at the doggie day care place that we take Harley to. She will watch dogs in her home, so we wanted to make sure he got along with her kids and her dog. All worked out, which is a big relief for when we go to Ontario. After meeting her, Mr.D did an oil change on the SUV and then we headed out for a walk with Harley. Our neighbourhood was having a family harvest festival and they had food trucks, so we made a pit stop. I've been craving mini doughnuts since the Stampede and there was a truck there that had them. Of course this pregnant lady had to get some! So good.

In the afternoon, Mr.D went biking with a friend, so I ran a bunch of errands. Picked up some American money for my trip next weekend, bought a new bra, bought diapers {any mom's in Canada...Safeway has Pampers 50% off right now using the coupon on their Facebook page. Works out to $17 a box!}. Once Mr.D got home from biking, we picked up some pizza and spent the night hanging out at home.

{sunday} Mr.D was off biking again in the morning with Justin, so Harley and I went for a run. The rest of the day was spent doing lots of cleaning, laundry and taking a nap. Perfect Sunday afternoon :)

Tell me: how was your weekend?

{baby d}: week twenty one

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

I had to take a picture outside this week to show you just a bit of the snow we got. Yes, snow in September. Not cool Mother Nature!

Feeling: overall, still pretty good. My back started hurting randomly this week and the pain stuck around for a couple of days. Not the most fun to have a sore back, but things could be worse. Any tips to help deal with the pain?

Workouts: still walking lots with Harley, one short run on the treadmill because of the snow, at home CrossFit style workout and a swim.

Other: finally felt definite movement this week! Such a neat, exciting yet weird feeling. It started on Monday or Tuesday with feeling her move past my hand on my belly. I have been feeling her more and more each day. She's usually active in the afternoon and then early evening. Feeling her will never get old!{I may change that statement when she's kicking me in the ribs ;) }

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! I really wish weekends didn't go by so quickly. I could do with one more morning to sleep in.

I didn't take a single picture this weekend...such a bad blogger I know. This weekend, we:

  • went on many walks with Harley
  • watched many episodes of The Blacklist
  • slept in each morning
  • went to CrossIron Mills and had no luck finding anything for myself. I was hoping for a couple shirts for work and some new scarves
  • took naps in the afternoon

Tell me: how was your weekend? Take more pictures than I did? ;)

I've been struggling to come up with stuff (besides baby related of course) lately, so you get a bunch of random things today.

  • since it's been chilly here this week, we made a delicious Italian sausage and tortellini soup. Super easy, makes lots and so good! You can find the recipe here.
  • it makes me sad that they are talking about euthanizing the bear that killed the hunter (see news story here). The hunter went into bear country and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
  • did you hear/see the crazy snow storm that we got? I had Mr. D drop me off at the train station because I didn't feel like driving and so glad I did! The traffic was crazy backed up. Thank goodness the weather is turning warm again today.
  • only two more weeks until San Francisco! {side note: I can never spell it right}
  • who watched the season opener of Sons of Anarchy?!

Tell me: something random for your Thursday

{baby d}: week twenty

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

Holy moly, half way there! Pretty sure time is going to fly even faster now.

Feeling: Still no major complaints besides some heartburn and what I think is round ligament pain. This pregnancy has been pretty easy on me so far and hopefully it stays that way!

For the mama's out there- did you get bloody noses/boogers (sorry if that's TMI) more often when pregnant? I have never had a bloody nose before and find that my boogers are always bloody now. Pregnancy is a strange thing at times!

Workouts: two runs, and a couple walks with Harley. I didn't exercise from Wednesday to Friday at all, which wasn't good. Such is life.

  • had my 20 week appointment at the maternity clinic. Baby/belly was measuring as should be and I got to hear the heart beat again. It was 147 that day.
  • bought a bassinet for $30 off was brand new and had never been used. Can't beat that price!

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! So not ready to go back to work. It's weird to me that in 3.5-4 months, I'll be off work for a year. Craziness.

{friday} my work had a BBQ (one of the co-workers cooks and does all the food for them), so we stayed for that. We had beer can chicken, ribs, veggies, corn, potatoes- all so good! We got home just after 8pm and it was a gorgeous night out, so I took Harley for a quick walk.

{saturday} my morning started out bright and early with our neighbour's contractor starting work on their deck at 7:05am. Ah, I was not impressed to wake up to the sound of hammering and the saw going off at that time. Mr.D was already up as he was heading out to go biking, so he had a few choice words with the guy. Pretty sure we weren't the only neighbours up as I saw at least two others come out to see who was making all the noise. The home owner ended up coming by later that morning to apologize and he apparently paid the contractor to leave for a couple hours. Nice of him, just crappy it had to happen.

Later that morning, Alison and Delainey came to pick me up and we headed to the kids toy and clothing sale in our neighbourhood. It was pretty busy when we got there, but we each found a couple cute things. I got a pair of Gap jeans for $5, a little Gap sweater for $3 and a fleece outfit (thinking of using it to bring her home in since it will be the dead of winter) for $1. Not bad! The rest of the day was spent taking Harley for a long walk, napping and watching tv.

{sunday} Mr.D and Justin watched a bike race on TV and then headed out for a bike ride, so I went grocery shopping in the morning. After groceries, I took Harley for a HOT (not complaining at all since the weather is turning to shit this week) run/walk and then spent the afternoon hanging out.

Tell me: how was your weekend?

Five on Friday

{one} Happy Friday everyone! I'm sitting at work at 7:21am on a Friday morning...silly me for volunteering to come in early. Oh well.

{two} I didn't do a weekend recap, but I had a great weekend with my mom, my MIL and Mr.D. My mom flew in on Friday night and left Wednesday afternoon. We went to two farmers markets, went on lots of walks, played crazy eights, enjoyed the sunshine, went shopping, watched movies and hung out. It was fun :)

{three} Alison and I are going to the kids sale in my neighbourhood this weekend. We went last year (I think?) while Alison was still pregnant and it's crazy to think that I'm the pregnant one this year! Hopefully they have some good stuff.

{four} the last couple of days it's felt like I am coming down with a cold. Fingers crossed it stays away because I really don't want one!

{five} Other than going to the kids sale tomorrow, I have zero plans. Mr.D is going biking, so I have the house to myself for the afternoon. I see naps, a walk with Harley and just hanging out in my future.

Have a great weekend everyone!

{baby d}: week nineteen

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

Thanks Alison for the dress!
Feeling: overall, pretty good again this week. I was tired by the end of the week without my mid-afternoon naps I was having while on vacation. Heartburn started this week after lunch and would last on and off throughout the day.

Workouts: LOTS of walks with Harley, one run, one bike ride and did a T25 workout, but modified it.

Other: my mom was in town for the weekend and kindly bought us our car seat. We went with the Britax B-Safe car seat. We were debating between that one and the Graco Snugride 35, but the Britax fit better on the stroller and in our vehicle better. Mr.D figured out how to set it up in each vehicle- can't wait to actually put it in there for real!

I also picked up some paint samples for the nursery and was trying to nail a colour down while my mom was here. Nothing set in stone yet, but a few contenders.
