{five on friday}

{one} happy Friday everyone! We are about to get a big dump of snow and really cold weather, so I have a feeling this weekend will be all about hibernating.

{two} just a friendly reminder that the Christmas blogger swap packages are to be sent out by Tuesday December 2, 2014 at the latest. If your package is going to be super late, please let your partner know :)

{three} I'm jealous of everyone's turkey dinners...well maybe just the stuffing. Feel free to send any extra stuffing my way :)

{four} we are putting up our Christmas tree and decorations this weekend...crazy that Christmas is less than a month away!

{five} have a great weekend everyone!

{baby d}: week thirty one

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

Feeling: much better than last week! My stomach still has it's moments, but definitely better. A bit of heart burn and groin pain, but otherwise, feeling good.

Workouts: six walks with Harley and one strength training. Not the greatest week, but still glad I`m getting out and walking almost everyday with Harley still.

  • I picked up the adorable moccasins from LePetitCoco that I had ordered. Best part is that the shop owner lives in Calgary, so I was able to swing by and pick them up. Can't wait until baby girl can wear them!
  • where can I find a grey or yellow changing pad cover? Anyone have a good seller to use on Etsy?
  • baby D also got spoiled by my brother and his wife. They sent us a package filled with adorable outfits and goodies for baby D.

Randomness for your Tuesday

I've got a bunch of random thoughts for you today...
  • I have two $20 USD codes for Shutterfly that expire on January 31, 2014. We aren't doing Christmas cards and doubt I'll be able to make birth announcements before then. Does anyone have a use for them? I could send you the code or mail them to you.
  • we are going to a wedding on NYE and I have nothing to wear. I'm looking for a form fitting dress (preferably lace)...any ideas of where to find one? Not looking to spend $200 either
  •  does anyone watch Homeland? It's quite the season!
  • who wants to pick out an outfit for me to wear for our maternity pictures? I have no idea what to wear.
  • baby girl was hanging out on my right ribs yesterday and it was the first day where I was truly uncomfortable being pregnant. Tough life I know :)
Tell me: something random for your Tuesday!

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! Just over four weeks until Christmas holidays, which is crazy. Not quite feeling ready for Christmas, but ready for the time off work.

{friday} Mr.D headed to Edmonton for the night for a friend's birthday party, so it was just Harley and I. We went for a walk and then I headed out to Winners and Target to pick up some stuff for Christmas and for our work donations (we 'adopt' seniors that may not otherwise receive anything for Christmas).

{saturday} in the morning, Harley and I went for a walk and then hung out around the house. Harley practiced his really weird way of coming down the stairs:

Haha, such a character. Mr.D came home just after lunch and his parents came too (they planned on coming before Mr.D decided to go up there too).  My FIL and Mr.D worked on some projects while my MIL and I ran to Michaels and HomeSense. Later on that night, we went out for dinner to NOTaBLE and left with very happy bellies. Such good food there!

{sunday} Mr.D's parents left in the morning, so we caught up on some TV shows and then I might have had a nap on the couch ;) In the afternoon, I ran some more errands for my work Christmas donations. We ended the weekend by getting Chinese good!

{baby d}: week thirty

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

Is anyone surprised that Harley made it into another weekly picture? Haha, what a dog.

Feeling: last week was not a great week at all. My stomach was still not feeling great and no idea what caused it. Maybe baby girl sitting weird on my insides? I ended up taking a sick day on the Thursday and just hung out at home napping and watching tv.  Not being able to take anything (ie: pepto) while pregnant sucks!

Workouts: not a great week because of my stomach, but still got some walks in with Harley.

  • had my 30 week check up at the maternity clinic. I mentioned my stomach issues to the doctor and she said it's nothing to worry about as long as I wasn't having cramps/contractions or blood in my stool. She said to come back in if I didn't start feeling better just in case. Heartbeat was in the 140's and belly was measuring as it should. Still crazy that I am now going every two weeks.
  • Mr.D put the crib together, which is crazy to see when I walk into the nursery
  • baby girl received the most adorable package from Kristin. She is spoiled already!

Questions for the mama's:
  • what type of breast pump do you have? Would you recommend it?
  • what type of bottles have you tried and used?
  • did you read any parenting books while pregnant? If I don't, am I going to be a terrible parent? Haha
  • for those of you in Canada, can you complete anything for EI before you go off on mat leave? Or better to wait until I have started my mat leave/baby is born?

Scenes from the weekend

I really need to get better at taking pictures, but I took zero again this weekend. Or maybe it's a good thing that I'm not a professional blogger.

{friday} after dinner, I ran to the mall to pick up a few things. I was looking for a few things for the nursery at Toy r us, but didn't have much luck. I did find a cute crib skirt at Target though, so I consider that a win.

{saturday} my nesting urge was kicking in again, so I cleaned and organized a bunch in the morning. Finally set up the coat rack in our storage room and threw a bunch of paper out. Later on, Mr.D and I ran some errands and then took Harley for a walk. The afternoon was spent having a delightful nap on the couch :) For dinner, we headed out to try Brooklyn Pizza (it used to be The Rock)...definitely not as good as before.

{sunday} an exciting morning in my world....getting groceries and taking Harley for a long walk. At least the weather had turned nicer and that it wasn't not freezing cold. The afternoon was spent hanging up itty bitty baby clothes, organizing the nursery, ironing the curtains and crib skirt. It's slowly coming together :)  I don't know how it happened, but another nap was taken on the couch and I may have woken up to a puddle of drool beneath me. Lucky Mr. D ;)

It feels like our weekends are almost all booked up from now until Christmas, so it was nice to have a weekend where we didn't have anything we HAD to do.

{baby d}: week twenty nine

Just a friendly reminder I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

Feeling: I had an upset stomach for a couple of days this week. I think it was mainly due to starting to take iron pills, which are notoriously hard on your stomach. I had to stop taking them as I couldn't handle it anymore. Otherwise, felt pretty good this week.

Workouts: lots of walks with Harley,  CrossFit style workout at home, T25 with lots of modifications and a strength training workout. Not a bad week even with a rest day in there when my stomach was really upset.

  • finally painted the nursery on the weekend! So glad to have it done. Just need to set up the crib and hang the pictures/art for the gallery wall
  • bought a new winter jacket two sizes up that should hopefully fit me for the rest of the pregnancy. I ended up finding it at Marks Work Wearhouse and got a sweet deal on it....40% off the regular price plus another 20% off on top of that!
  • only 69 more days to go!

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! I'm not dreading this week so much (well minus the dumping of snow we got yesterday and how bloody cold it's going to be!) because we have Tuesday off for Remembrance Day.

{friday} After I got home from work, we headed to Mark Work Wearhouse to check out their winter jackets they had one sale. I ended up finding one that will hopefully fit the growing belly, which is good. After jacket shopping, we grabbed dinner and then headed home.

{saturday} In the morning, Mr.D and Justin headed out for a mountain bike ride since it was such a gorgeous day. After they left, I got started painting the nursery (don't worry, I worry a mask and lots of windows open). Between coats of paint, I took Harley for a walk in the gorgeous sunshine. That night, we headed to Alison and Justin's for dinner. Always fun to hang out with them and of course see Miss Delainey who was being a silly girl :)

{sunday} we woke up to snow in the morning and it continued all day long....winter is almost over right? ;) I had to do some touch ups in the nursery and worked on cleaning the house up. I'm in serious nesting mode over here! Harley and I braved the snow to go for a short walk and it wasn't too bad minus him being super pully for some reason.

Tell me: how was your weekend? Did you get any snow?

I confess...

I haven't done a confession post in a while, so I thought why not do one today?

I confess.....
  • that I did absolutely nothing but blog, shower and watch tv last night. I felt a little guilty about it, but my stomach was feeling off all day yesterday and I really don't feel like coming down with a cold or the flu
  •  that I've eaten way too much Halloween treats in the last week. But they are so little and yummy!
  • that I've only bought one Christmas present so far
  • that I can't believe we are going to be parents in under three months
  • that I need a pedicure really, really badly but bending over to paint my toe nails is no longer comfortable
  • that I miss running and a hard workout some days, but other days I'm okay with not doing either
  • that I don't get the appeal of monogrammed things for your kids. Maybe that's because we don't have a name picked out yet?
  • that I really don't like the "in case you missed it " tweets with old posts links on Twitter

Tell me: what are your confessions for today?

{baby d}: week twenty eight

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

I had to take advantage of it being Halloween last week and being pregnant :) Can't beat a $6 shirt, a sharpie and ten minutes to make a costume!

Feeling: major back pain last week :( I felt like an old man by the end of the week as it took me forever to go from sitting to standing. As long as I didn't do either for too long, I was fine.

Workouts: my last prenatal yoga class, many walks with Harley and an at home tabata workout. One day of doing nothing because my back was killing!

  • only 76 more days to go! Where the heck has time gone?!
  • I had my 28 week check up at the maternity clinic, which means I am now going every two weeks. Found out that I passed my glucose test (thank goodness!) and belly is still measuring on track. I also really liked the doctor that I met this time {the clinic that I go to has 6-8 doctors that rotate through the clinic and the hospital, so you don't usually see the same doctor every time}. Fingers crossed she is at the hospital when I go into labour!
  • tried to find a new jacket that I can wear while walking Harley now that the weather has turned colder and that my other jackets don't quite do up anymore! I don't want to spend a tonne of money since I'll only wear it for a couple of months. Any ideas?
  • she was hanging out on my right side for a good portion of the week, which was very uncomfortable

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! We got snow this weekend...yuck! Good thing it's supposed to warm up again this week.

{friday} As it was Halloween, we hung out at home giving out candy to the trick or treaters. I think we had just over 40 kids, which is pretty good. I thought we would have more since it was Friday and the weather was decent. I wasn't going to put up decorations, but decided last minute too and you can see what I came up with above. Easy and simple.

{saturday} I had a wonderful sleep in that morning and then did a few things around the house before heading out to my hair appointment (see above). I decided to go a bit darker as my hair is growing so fast and wasn't sure if I will be getting my hair done again before baby comes. After my hair appointment, the wet snow was coming down, but decided to suck it up and take Harley for a walk. Later that night, my friend Kim came over for pizza and a movie.

{sunday} I had another wonderful sleep in before getting my act together and running some errands with Mr.D. In the afternoon, I had a nap before taking Harley for a long walk as the snow had finally stopped and the sun came out.

Tell me: how was your weekend?
