Randomness on a Thursday

I've got a bunch of random things for you today. Let's see:

one// I'm heading to Ontario this afternoon for the weekend to see my family and help celebrate my brother's wedding. I only wish that Mr.D was coming with me.

two// good luck to everyone running the Calgary Marathon this weekend! I hope for a speedy race and nice weather for everyone. I just wish I was still running it :(

three// has anyone watched American Horror Story? Mr.D started watching it last night and I caught some of it....it is a strange and creepy show.

four// thanks to everyone who commented on Instagram about which dress I should wear. The blue one won, so it's currently packed in my suit case :)

Highlights of the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! Another weekend went by too quickly again :( Let's see what we were up to:
  • Mr.D had a school related thing on Friday night, so I took Harley for a run and then went to Target
  • Saturday morning started out with pancakes. Can't go wrong with that!
  • we were watching our friend's dog for the day, so the dogs played for a while and then we took them for a long walk. 
  • that night, I went to my co-workers house for a retirement dinner for another co-worker. Lots of good food!
  • Sunday morning we ran to Home Depot to get top soil and mulch. After getting it all home, we started digging up the sod, taking it to the dump and planting the trees. It was a bit of work, but glad they are finally planted

Five on Friday


one// happy Friday everyone! Even with the short week, I am so ready for the weekend. Next week is a three day week, which is awesome too!

two// we went to Costco last night and finally bought some trees. We have only been wanting to do it for four years ....or since we moved in. Now to dig some holes and plant them this weekend. 

three// have you eaten at Smash burger before? If not, you need to go and get some of the smash fries. SOO good!

four// I'm searching for some cute pumps or wedges to wear with my navy dress. Has anyone seen any lately?

Training Tuesday

It still feels weird not to be following a training plan or having anything on the race schedule, but it's also nice to do whatever I feel like each night. I'm toying with the idea of running the 5 or 10k race at the Stampede Road Race. Anyone else running it that I could join in with?

Highlights of the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! I am still off work today (thank goodness for long weekends!), so my weekend isn't technically over. 

Let's see what we were up to this weekend (be warned, I took zero pictures this weekend!):
  • took Harley for a walk on Friday after work and then headed to the mall. I was looking for a couple of things, but had no luck
  • Saturday morning started bright and early at 6am. I got up to feed Harley and then Mr.D and I couldn't fall back asleep. Mr.D took off for a motorcycle ride {oh, did I mention he bought a motorcycle from this dad}. I vacuumed, did some laundry and then took Harley for a run/walk since the weather was so nice out
  • after our run, Mr.D and I ran to Costco and a few other places
  • in the afternoon, I had a much needed hair appointment
  • Sunday included: a sleep in, a crossfit class, returned a few things at Wal-Mart and a fantastic greek dinner made by Mr.D
  • oh and we finally watched Frozen

A little of this and a little of that

Happy Wednesday everyone! Sorry for being so quiet lately....just haven't had much to blog about when I'm no longer training for the marathon. So, let's do a little of this and a little of that today.

  • we went to see Mr.D's family on the weekend. Fun to spend time with our nieces who are growing like crazy!
  • we all went out for brunch for Mother's Day to the Creperie. They served this deep fried cheese bread, croissants and fruit even before our meal came! So good and still so full.
  • Mr.D got out of a speeding ticket also- lucky guy!
  • I'm still working out- mainly doing T25 and lots of walks with Harley. The knee is feeling better, but scared to do too much too soon. I've done a couple run/walks to ease back into running and it's felt good so far.
  • so excited for the long weekend! If only the weather wasn't looking so crappy
  • the dress that I arrived came already and I love it! I was surprised how quickly it came from the states especially since I didn't pay for the faster shipping.
  • I'm getting my hair highlighted and cut this weekend....it so needs it!

Three Things Thursday

{one} are you a morning, afternoon, night pooper? Or every other day? 

I'm always curious because I'm a when the need strikes type of pooper.

{two} if you had to give up one of your favourite food items, which would be hardest?

If you know me at all, you'd know my answer would be Diet Coke. After that would be chips and then chocolate covered almonds.

{three} do you need an alarm to wake up every morning?

I sure do! I can't wake up on my own that early (not that 6:55-7am is that early).

{what i'm loving}


Happy hump day everyone! Fingers crossed the sun and warm weather comes back today as walking Harley in the snow and in my winter jacket yesterday was not cool. 

This week, I am loving:
  • a pain free run last night! It wasn't far or fast, but thank goodness for no knee pain.
  • that we are are two days away from the weekend
  • magazines arriving in the mail
  • an unexpected card from a friend {thanks again Lisa!} coming in the mail and making a crappy day better
  • posting clothes on Kijiji and having them sell within two days
  • a good book

Training Tuesday

The other day I was looking at my dailymile account, and it's officially been over a month since I have ran :( Major sad face over here. BUT, I did try running for a short time (less than a 500ms) last night, and there was zero knee pain. So excited about that! Hoping to get back out there slowly, but surely. Fingers crossed it won't feel like starting from the very beginning again.

  • Tabata workout in the garage of: Push ups, single leg deadlifts, Russian twists, shoulder touches and clean & jerks

  • 4.2km walk with Harley
  • CrossFit workout of:
AMRAP in 20 minutes of:
10 deadlifts (85lbs)
10 pushups
10 toes to rings

I managed 9 rounds plus 3 deadlifts

Five on Friday


{one} happy Friday everyone! So excited the weekend is finally here. Not excited that our beautiful sunshine and warm weather is being replaced with cold weather, rain and snow. BOO!

{two} continuing on the morbid thoughts from yesterday, I was listening to a story on CBC last night about a man who was being executed in the states on death row and his execution went wrong. If you had the chance, would you go to the execution if it was someone that hurt you in some way? I'm not sure if I would and how I feel about executing people on death row. Deep, heavy thoughts for your Friday.

{three} we have zero plans this weekend. What should we do?

{four} I ordered this dress for my brother's wedding at the end of May. Fingers crossed it arrives in time and fits!

Three Things Thursday

Yowdy. Do you know what today is besides being Thursday? One day closer to the weekend. Hallelujah for that. Today for TTT, it's going to be a would you rather theme. I haven't done one in a while, so I figured why not.

{one} would you rather hang out for a day with Backstreet Boys or NSYNC? 


NSYNC for sure, so I could meet Justin Timberlake. Meow!

{two} would you be buried alive or eaten by a bear? (a real happy one I know!)

I think both would suck royally, so I'd say eaten by a bear. 

{three} would you rather have an all expenses trip where you could only travel by hitch hiking or by bus?

Traveling by bus would take FOREVER, but what if you got picked up by a killer or creepy dude?
