Five on Friday

{one} happy Friday everyone! So excited that it's the weekend and that it's a long weekend.

{two} my mom flies into tonight and is staying until Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing her and spending time with her :) I'm trying to come up with things to do in Calgary this weekend....anyone know of any events going on?

{three} Mr.D and I took dinner over to my friend Erica last night and her husband. I got to snuggle with her 8 day old baby girl. So cute!

{four} for those of you on Twitter, if someone links to one of their older posts do you click on the link? I personally never do and don't see the need for them. If someone wants to read your old posts, they will go search them out. That's just my thoughts though.

{five} have a fabulous weekend everyone!

{baby d}: week eighteen

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

Feeling: overall, another pretty good week. Having this week off and napping in the afternoon certainly helped a lot. Not sure what I am going to do when I go back to work though...

Workouts: I actually remembered to write it down this time and had a pretty decent week of workouts. Three runs, a bike ride, lots of walks and an at home CrossFit workout. It's hard to get myself motivated to workout, but I usually feel better after I do it.

Other: going for our 18 week ultrasound and finding out that our little girl {still so crazy to say!} was growing as should be. Such an amazing thing to see everything on the ultrasound (ie: her heart beating away)

Looking forward to: coming up with ideas for the nursery, buying cute little girls clothes, etc.

A very inspiring blogger award

The other week, Lindsay nominated me for the very inspiring blogger award. I think she was yanking my chain when she nominated me because I don't think I am that inspiring, but thank you Lindsay! If you haven't checked out Lindsey's blog yet, you definitely should. She just completed the Calgary 70.3 after running the 50K at the Calgary Marathon! She is an amazing machine :)

The Rules

  • Thank and link to the person who nominated you.
  • List the rules and display the award.
  • Share seven facts about yourself.
  • Nominate 15 other blogs you enjoy, then comment on their posts to let them know that you have nominated them
Seven facts about me
  1.  I think it's funny that we are having a little girl because I am so not a pink, girly-girly type of person. Not saying you have to be to have a daughter either. {and of course I am excited to have a little girl!} Can I request people buy us non-pink things as gifts? Totally kidding!
  2. I absolutely hate scary movies. I jump in regular movies/tv shows that aren't even scary.
  3. I used to think I looked like Julia Stiles. Definitely not so much anymore.
  4. I cannot stand the smell or taste of coffee. It's definitely gotten worse now that I am pregnant.
  5.  Coming up with seven things about yourself is hard.
  6. I sometimes wonder what would be worse- getting shot or stabbed. I'm in no hurry to find out.
  7. If I could get on a plane tomorrow for an all expenses paid trip, it would be to Greece.
Nominations

The rules say that you are supposed to nominate 15 other blogs that you enjoy, but hot dang, that's a lot of blogs! So, instead I think if you are reading today, you should leave a comment with something interesting about yourself that I might not know :)

Baby D is....

On Friday, we went for our 18 week ultrasound to make sure the baby was growing as should be, that everything was healthy and to find out the sex! It was amazing to see how much the baby had grown in just six short weeks since our last ultrasound. The ultrasound tech told us that the baby weighed half a pound (so tiny!) and the heart beat was 152.

But, I know you all came here today to find out one thing and one thing only....what baby d is! Baby D......

Has the cutest little profile already! Okay, okay onto the real reason you came here.

Are you as shocked as I was?! I totally thought for sure she was a boy. Mr.D had no distinct feeling either way, and of course we are happy with a little girl to spoil rotten :)

What do you think baby d is?

Since our next ultrasound is tomorrow, I thought it would be fun to see what the old wives tale think we are having. I'd also love to hear that you guys think!

According to the old wives tales, it's overwhelmingly a boy! I've had three dreams that it was a boy, so I'm really curious now. Either way, Mr.D and I just want a healthy baby and have no preference :)

So, what do you think baby d is?

{baby d}: week seventeen

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

Feeling: overall, pretty good. Headaches are becoming very few and far between. It was also nice that I was off last week, so I could take a lot of naps in the afternoon.

Workouts: I somehow didn't log many of my workout last week again, but I know it included lots of walks with Harley. Need to get back into some circuit/strength training.

Other: not much going on. We haven't bought anything specifically for the baby since the stroller. Though I did pick up a shirt for work and two pairs of pants (thanks to my MIL).

I think it's funny how different the belly looks like when I "suck it in". The left is sucking it in and right is normal :)

A little of the weekend & Drumheller

On Saturday, we headed to Edmonton because our niece was having her 2nd birthday party on Sunday. In the afternoon on Saturday, I took Harley for a long and hot walk. It was so hot and muggy! The rest of the afternoon/night was spent hanging out with Mr.D's parents. Sunday was the birthday party, which included lots of little kids!

Since I am off this week too, we decided to drive back to Calgary on Monday. Instead of coming straight home, we decided to take a detour to Drumheller. I had never been before, so I decided it would be fun to do while I was still on holidays. We got to Drumheller around 1pm and it was so hot out! We parked at the Royal Tyrrell Museum and did a quick loop around the pathways since we had Harley with us.

After that quick loop, we drove to the Hoodoo Trail. We expected a bit more of a hike, but it worked out since it was so hot and so many mosquitoes. This was a great spot to see the hoodoos.

Overall, a fun afternoon seeing something new. We will definitely be back when we have kids to go into the museum.

Five on Friday

{one} happy Friday everyone! My first week of vacation is almost over...not really sure where the days went, but it was nice not having to do anything in particular.

{two} thank you for all of the anniversary wishes yesterday. We had a relaxed, but nice day together :) In the afternoon, we went out to Glenbow Ranch. It's crazy that it's ten minutes from our house and we had never been before. I think we ran into 4 people the whole time we were walking around.

When we were almost at the end, we were coming up a hill and I thought I saw a dogs head...turns out it was a baby bear! We also the deer in the picture above on the ridge just watching us.

{three} for our anniversary dinner, we went to The Lake House. It was so, so good!

{four} we are heading down to the Taste of Calgary today. We have never been to the one in Calgary, but have been to the one in Edmonton before. Hopefully it's not too crazy busy!

{five} have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Four years

It's crazy to think that four years ago we were walking down the aisle, saying our vows and celebrating our wedding day with our family and friends.

The last four years have flown by and it's crazy how much change is about to happen in the next year. Good change of course!

Mr.D- thank you for being such a loving, caring, supportive, funny husband. I can't wait to see you change roles from husband/doggie dad to husband/doggie dad/baby dad in January. I know you are going to be nothing but amazing!

{baby d}: week sixteen

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

a rare regular clothing shot

Feeling: overall, pretty good this week. Headaches are becoming less and less, which I am so happy about

Workouts: my memory has failed me and I barely recorded any of my workouts last week. So let's just say I walked lots and got in a couple of workouts

Other: I had my 16 week appointment at the maternity clinic and got to hear the heart beat again! It was 147 this time (the last two times it's been in the 150's). Otherwise, everything looked good

12 weeks on the left and 16 weeks on the right
Looking forward to: our next ultrasound next week. Fingers crossed that baby cooperates and we can find out the sex!

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Tuesday everyone! I meant to post about our weekend yesterday, but got busy napping on Sunday night and then had a busy day yesterday. It's a good thing I'm on holidays now :)

{friday} on Friday afternoon, Mr.D finally got home from his road trip. Once I was home from work and we packed up, we were on the road to Alison's family's cabin for the weekend. We had a lot of storms rolling through that day, so the sky was pretty crazy on the drive there.

We got there around 9pm, which meant just hanging out for the rest of the night. Oh and a swim for Harley! He apparently loves water and jumped right in. Silly dog!

{saturday} the morning started early at 7:30am and was on the chilly side. Once everyone was up, Mr.D and I made brunch. After brunch, the boys went out on the boat for a ski, so Alison, Delainey, the pups and I went for a walk. We ventured to a garage sale down the road, but I'm guessing all the good stuff was already bought ;) The afternoon was spent in the sunshine and competing in the Olympics that Alison's dad put together. It included kayaking/SUP, kan jam, washers, bocce and golf. I was paired up with Alison's brother Jeff and we somehow didn't come in last....still not sure how that happened even with my two of my golf balls going off the kids play house. Haha, golf is not one of my talents.

Harley's first boat ride

The rest of the day was spent enjoying a delicious dinner, going for a boat ride {Harley wasn't quite sure what to think of it} and having a camp fire under the super moon.

{sunday} we woke up to a beautiful day, but unfortunately all that lake water meant an upset stomach for Harley :( After breakfast, we packed up the car and headed home.

Someone slept the whole way home!

Thank you again to Alison and her parent's for inviting us to their cabin for the weekend! We had so much fun :)

Five on Friday

{one} as of 4:30pm today, I am on holidays! Woo hoo!

{two} Mr.D finally gets home today! He has been gone for the past week on a mountain biking trip with a friend in BC. It was nice to have the house to myself, but I missed him :)

{three} I made this recipe for lemon blueberry quick bread last night and oh my! So easy and so good.

{four} once I get home and we are packed up, we are heading to Alison's parents cabin for the weekend. So looking forward to it! {the lemon blueberry bread and cookies are coming with us Alison!}

{five} have a fantastic weekend everyone!

The last thing

It was hot in our house last night, so I decided to take trouble (aka Harley) for a walk around the block. Perfect time to come up with a post idea for today :)

What was the last phone call you made or received?

What was the last book you read?

What was the last thing you did before falling asleep last night?

What was the last dream you had?

What was the last new recipe you tried?

Answer one, all or none....I'd love to hear your answers!

{baby d}: week fifteen

Just a friendly reminder that I am posting my weekly recaps a week behind

(I won't lie, I didn't like a single picture I took last week. Oh well, such is pregnant life)

Feeling: last week's theme was tired! Holy, I thought I had passed that stage, but apparently not. So many naps were taken. I wasn't feeling great at all on Wednesday, so I stayed home from work and slept the day away. That seemed to have done the trick!

Workouts: it was hot last week, which drove my motivation down. My workouts included lots of walks with Harley and a couple at home workouts

Other: when I saw Becky on Saturday, she gave me this adorable plush toy for baby D. Thanks again!

Looking forward to: 16 week appointment, ultrasound on the 22nd (I moved it so I wouldn't have to miss work) and being on holidays for two weeks

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Tuesday everyone! It was a long weekend here, so the extra day off was fabulous. Plus, there is only four more work days until my vacation starts. Can't wait!

{friday} the weather was super crappy, so I took Harley for a short walk and then hung out at home all night.

{saturday} in the morning, I met up with Becky (& Liam)  and Kaella (& London) at the zoo. They had plans to come into town to take their little guys and I invited myself along as I had never been to the zoo. It worked out really well that we got there just as it was opening to avoid the larger crowds. It was a fun morning with the girls and seeing all of the animals! Thanks for letting me come along and it was great to meet you Kaella :)

After the zoo, I headed home for a lazy afternoon on the couch and taking Harley for a walk. I was tired after all that walking around at the zoo in the sunshine!

{sunday} Mr.D had scheduled me for a prenatal massage in the morning, but the spa called and said that the massage therapist was off sick. They offered to have me come in for a complimentary facial or pedicure. I had never had a facial before, so I quickly said yes to that! The facial was an hour long and perfection. After my facial, I had a quick lunch and headed out for a walk with Erica who is due very soon! The rest of the day was spent hanging out at home.

{monday} in the morning, I had a little sleep in then walked Harley. In the afternoon, I met up with my friend K and we went to the cheap theatre (can't beat $5 for a movie!) to see The Fault in Our Stars. Oh my goodness, I cried so much. I had read the book, but forgot parts of it. If you haven't seen it, definitely do! After the movie, I made a quick stop at Target where I found a comfy maxi skirt for $10 and then headed home. I made a quick dinner and some banana muffins for the week.

Tell me: how was your weekend?
