{amelia}: five months

Amelia turned 5 months old on June 17th, but I'm a little late getting this post up.

You can find her past updates here:

One month
Two months
Three months
Four months

Weight: not sure as she hasn't been weighed since the end of May. I'm guessing well over 15 pounds

Length: not sure either

I wonder where she got her eyes from ;)
Hair/eyes: she has been losing a bit of hair on the top of her head and it's still getting lighter. Eyes are still very blue.

  • putting her hands and everything else in her mouth
  • pinching your arms/face or grabbing anything near her
  • playing on her play mat and swinging her legs from side to side
  • exercising her lungs - she found her voice this month and she is LOUD! She sounds like a dinosaur at times. She also has a fake cough, which is funny
  • sitting in her bumbo
  • looking around when we go for walks
  • watching Harley and grabbing him when he comes near
Smiling at dad
  • sleeping for long periods of time at night ;)
  • not much else
Eating: still 100% breastfed, but we made a huge break through in bottles as in she will FINALLY take one! Someone in our baby group mentioned the Dr. Brown's bottle and I decided I'd pick some up as a last chance effort. And she has taken it every day without an issue. Thank goodness! Otherwise she is eating anywhere from 2-4 hours during the day and a bit longer at night.

Sleeping: let's just say it's been a little rough this month. Many wake ups each night and will sometimes be wide awake around 3am for 45-60 minutes. She is also a big fan of getting up between 5-5:30am...any idea how to get her to sleep in longer? She also goes to bed between 7-8pm and we have developed a bed time routine (bath, pjs, eat, book, bed).

  • wears size two diapers
  • slowly growing out of her 3 month sized outfits and sleepers and moving into 6 month stuff

  1. Such a pretty girl. Time is flying!

  2. Awww, 5 months already!!?! I'm sure you're saying the same thing but time flies. I love that you have the same eyes <3

  3. Glad you got those bottles!! They really work well for us!!! Looks like she has Mamas eyes!!

  4. Hope the sleep gets back to normal for you. We have had a few rough nights in a row. Makes for one tired mama. :) She looks so great and happy! Nice work!

  5. I can't believe she is already 5 months! She's lucky that she got her mom's beautiful blue eyes! She is such a cutie. I hope that she starts to sleep for longer stretches for you again!

  6. mom - now grandmaJune 25, 2015 6:36 AM

Amelia you are one beautiful little girl.... Leigh I remember you at 5 months - and you preferred not to sleep but had the best smile and "piggy faces"
so it was easy to forgive you. Some day Amelia will be saying the same thing about her baby. Life just keeps on rolling. Love love that Amelia smile

  7. Those eyes!! Looks so much like her beautiful momma :)

That is SO great about her taking bottles! I bet it will be nice for you to be able to get out a bit more and not have to worry about getting home in a certain time frame! I know that sleep training helped my friend a lot with her babe sleeping through the night so I hope it helps you guys too!

  8. Yay for taking a bottle! It's a nice option to have, that's for sure! :) if Sully wakes up at 5/530 I still consider that the middle of the night haha! So he comes into to bed with me where we side nurse and usually go back to sleep for a while.

  9. Your eyes for sure!! YAY for finding a bottle she will take. That is so nice - for you!! A bit more freedom if you want it! :)

  10. Quinn is also a fan of the 5-5:30am wake ups. I'm hoping it'll pass! We also had a bottle break through within the last two weeks! Yahoo!! She is such a cute little girl!
