TGIF

Happy Friday everyone! So glad that the weekend is here...even better is that it's a long weekend and the weather is supposed to be fantastic!

The high of my week was going for a walk with a friend yesterday. I'm not sure why, but I've been in a bit of a slump again this week, so it was nice to get out of the house even for 30 minutes.

The low of my week was Amelia having a couple bad nights. She was up between 3-5am (not straight) and just wouldn't settle. Luckily, last night was better.

The best money I spent was

The best meal we had was a couple things. Mr.D made quiche with sausage, mushrooms and peppers one night and then last night made Greek chicken and potatoes with tzatziki. It was so good!

The things I'm thinking about are:

  • what kind of car seat to get for Amelia next? She's not close to growing out of hers, but Toys R Us has a sale on so I thought I would start getting recommendations.
  • how I'm glad the 21 day fix extreme is done. I enjoyed it, but was pretty tired by the end
  • how I wish I could find some bathing suit tops that work with these boobs. I also really need new shorts as lots of mine are too big (first world problems I know)

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. We got Sam the Evenflo Symphony DLX Platinum Protection Series All in One Car Seat and really like it. My favorite feature is the "sure latch" because it makes it easy to move from one vehicle to the other. When we bought it we thought the cup holder feature was silly but now we are SO glad we have it. Every morning we give Sam a sippy of milk for the 20 minute drive to Daycare and he uses the cup holder when he's done. Good luck and hope you have a great weekend! xo

  2. I just read this post at another blog I follow and she was talking about the July blues. It's totally a thing. I've been so blah. Bring on August! I'm doing car seat shopping too. They're all really safe, I think the best thing is to find one that fits and installs really great in your car. I'm trying to find one that will go in the middle seat in my Tuscon and it's not going very well lol

  3. I've had a bit of the blues too lately (hence my trip to go see my mom!). All car seats are equally safe (they all have to pass safety standards), but they definitely aren't all equal in terms of comfort, size, etc. We went with the Clek Foonf. Sully LOVES it. It's narrow which is great for other people wanting to sit in the back seat, but it's heavy (which I like because it feels like a beast). I love the rebar bar it comes with and I love that it's made in Canada. It also is made from waterproof material so it wipes up amazingly easily. It reclines as well, so it's pretty darn comfy for him. As he gets older, or when we eventually forward face, we can decrease the incline. I have no complaints about it! We bought it when Sully was about 8 months old, but didn't switch him over till about 10 months. I wasn't ready to give up the convenience of the bucket seat! Haha.

  4. Honestly, don't spend a lot of money on a car seat. They're all safe (and pass standards tests) and as long as the kids are comfortable on top of that it's fine. You do want something where the cover comes off to clean--trust me on this one!

We got the Britax Marathon and I have no complaints.

Sorry you're feeling a little down. It happens to all of us though. You're just honest about it. Have a great long weekend xx

  5. We are at 9 months, 29 inches, 22 lbs and still loving our bucket seat (ours is rated up to 32 inches/35 lbs). It's just so darn easy with the stroller frame that folds up so tiny in our trunk! I don't really have any input on the bigger seats other than the fact that the one sitting up in our attic (that we got from our baby shower registry) is evenflo and a friend of mine recommended that brand. Good luck finding your match!

  6. No fun that you are feeling down again!
We have the Britax Marathon and really like it. It's light enough and easy enough to move if needed.

What kind of tzatziki do you buy?

  7. So about shorts - I was just having a conversation about shorts with a friend because I do not own a single pair of non-running type of shorts and I don't think I have since maybe college? But they are so in style now and everyone seems to be wearing them (I swear for awhile no one wore shorts) so I have thought about maybe getting a pair of colored shorts.

I hope you guys have a great weekend! I"m envious of the fact that it's a long weekend for you! I wish that was the case here but we don't get a long weekend in August. :(

  8. I agree with Lindsay about the Evenflo DLX! I live the Sure Latch system, especially since I often swapped the seat between our vehicles. It made it quick and easy! My only gripe is that it's pretty big, so if you have a small car it gets a little tight wherever you put the seat.

  10. We were considering buying a seat during the sale too! You'll have to let me know which you end up with. Was thinking the Marathon since my Baby Bargain book gives it a great rating! Plus we have air miles..

  11. Aren't walks with friends the best?

  12. I love tzatziki right now!! SO good. We have the britax marathon. It's narrow and good for Delainey being tiny still as it can still face backwards. I hear ya on the bathing suit tops. BOO.
