Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! This weekend was a mix of good and bad. Let's see what we were up to:

{friday} we were going to meet up with Alison and Nicole (and kids) at a market near by in the morning, but Amelia decided to sleep for two hours and twenty minutes! That meant we totally missed meeting up with the girls, but she is not a fun girl if you wake her up. Once she was up, I decided to head to the library so we could have a change of scenery and Amelia could crawl around there. We came home to have some lunch and hang around the house. Mr.D got home in the early afternoon, so I took Harley for a short run. After dinner, Mr.D went to meet up with some co-workers to go to a movie, so I put Amelia to bed and watched Still Alice on Netflix. I was also craving chocolate like crazy, so decided to try making a mug cake. They are pretty easy and pretty tasty! Pretty sure I was in bed around exciting ;)

she woke up and looked older :(

it's tough work playing at the library ;)

{saturday} shortly before Amelia's morning nap, Mr.D headed out to Costco for a few things and to get Harley's nails trimmed. Once he got back and Amelia was up, we went to get our flu shots. It wasn't very busy in there, so it didn't take too long. Amelia screamed when the needle went in, but she luckily settled down after that. The rest of the day didn't include too much except for hanging out at home and having pizza for dinner.

{sunday} I woke up in a bad mood and not feeling well, so I had a short nap when Amelia went down and then headed out to the local medicentre. The last couple of days I've felt like I've had water in my ear and the pressure had started to build, so I wanted to get it looked at before I fly to Ontario later this week. Luckily, I didn't have to wait too long and left with a prescription. When I got home, Amelia had just recently gotten up from a nap (she slept for almost two and half hours!), so we had some lunch before taking Harley for a walk. When we got home, we decided to set up the Christmas decorations and tree. It's starting to feel like Christmas! Amelia had another long nap (1.5 hours), and we had to wake her up as it was getting close to 5pm.

Tell me: how was your weekend?

Happy Friday everyone!  It's been chilly here this week...I'm not quite ready for winter.

This week, we:
  • Monday: Amelia was a cranky girl this day thanks to her second top tooth making it's way in. She went down early for her morning nap and ended up sleeping for an hour and forty minutes! Once she was up, we went to get groceries and walk Harley. She went down early again for her afternoon nap and slept again for an hour and forty minutes! Must have needed the sleep.
  • Tuesday: it was a freezing cold day (-14C) and super snowy, so we ventured out for a super short walk. Amelia ended up falling asleep five minutes from home, but I was luckily able to get her out of her snow suit and into her crib where she went back to sleep. After her nap, we ran to Wal-Mart for a couple things and then spent the rest of the day cozied up inside the house.
  • Wednesday: Harley was at doggie daycare and I had nothing else planned for the day, so I decided to take Amelia to the mall to see Santa after her morning nap. We got there close to registration time (1pm) and there was only a couple people in front of us. Side note- I don't understand their process. You register and provide your phone number, so they will text you when your turn is getting close. But, then it was first come, first serve to actually see Santa. Just doesn't make sense to me at all. Oh well, we saw Santa and managed to get a smile out of Amelia!
  • Thursday: after Amelia's morning nap, we took Harley for a short walk as it was sunny, but chilly out. We came home to have some lunch and then headed to the local health clinic as I wanted to get Amelia weighed (she's up to 19lbs 6oz). We also made a quick stop at the grocery store before heading home. After dinner, I headed out for a massage (gotta take advantage of my benefits before the year end!), which was heavenly

The book I started reading is All The Light We Cannot See. I'm not far into it yet, but am enjoying it so far.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway for a pair of Freshly Picked moccs! Even if you don't have kids, they would make a great baby shower gift :)

We have nothing planned for the weekend. Well, we are going to put up our tree and Christmas decorations. We normally do it the first weekend of December, but Amelia and I are gone then.

The dinners we had were:

Have a great weekend everyone!

{freshly picked moccasins}

A few weeks ago, an opportunity to collaborate with Freshly Picked came up and I jumped at the chance.  I have been following Freshly Picked on social media for awhile while lusting over their moccasins, but just could never pull the trigger. I'll be honest, the price point definitely deterred me from ordering (they range from $45-60US for the soft soled moccs). Now that I received a pair from Freshly Picked and Amelia has worn them numerous times, I can definitely say that they are worth the money!

What I love about them:

They stay on Amelia's feet

Amelia absolutely hates keeping shoes and socks on her feet, which doesn't work so well in the winter. I've tried numerous pairs and they are all off her feet within a couple minutes. These have yet to fall off (even through crawling around everywhere) and she does not try to take them off. I love that they have an elastic around the top of the foot which helps keep them on as well.

Amelia is not walking yet, but is crawling and pulling up on everything are perfect for her. There are a few scuff marks on the toes from crawling, but that just adds to the character of them! I know that once she is walking, they will be a great option as well.

They go with everything

I had such a tough time trying to decide which ones to get as they are so many options! I ended up ordering the platinum ones. Amelia has worn them with leggings and dresses and I plan on pairing them with her Christmas dress. We have gotten so many compliments on them when we are out!

Amelia has pretty tiny feet still (not sure where she would have gotten those, haha), so many of the other shoes I have bought her haven't come close to fitting. When I was ordering, I measured her feet and found that her feet are between sizes of moccasins. The website recommended going down a size in the soft soled moccasins, so I ordered her a size 1. They still have room in them which is perfect as we will get more wear out of them! You can find the sizing chart here.

Now for the exciting part! I am excited to be able to share in the Freshly Picked love with one lucky winner. The winner will win a pair of soft sole moccasins in their choice of colour/style.  The contest will run from Wednesday November 25, 2015 to Tuesday December 1, 2015 and is open to residents of Canada and the US.

Please note: the winner cannot have won any other giveaway including a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins within the last 60 days.

I received a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own.

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! Nothing too much happened around here this weekend.

{friday} let's just say that it wasn't the greatest day....I put Amelia down for a nap and once she was asleep, I went out to shovel the driveway as we had got a bit of snow. I came back in and she was crying, so I think Harley must have barked or whined while I was outside enough to wake her up. I let her cry for a bit hoping she would fall back asleep as it had only been ten minutes, but no such luck. I decided to pack us up and head out to run some errands. Amelia ended up falling asleep right as we got to Superstore, so I waited a couple minutes and decided to risk transferring her out of her car seat into the stroller. Luckily, she stayed asleep through the grocery trip , back into her car seat and the drive home where I had to wake her up. Mr.D gets home early on Fridays, so I told him that I needed 30 minutes to myself {my patience was lacking that day} and went to have a nap. Once I was up, I took Harley for a walk and then we just hung out for the night.

{saturday} we didn't do much in the morning...Mr.D had physio and I laid in bed reading while Amelia napped. In the late morning, one of my co-workers and his wife came over for a visit and brought us some delicious treats! In the afternoon, I took Harley for a walk and we just hung around the house. We did watch Inside Out which was super cute!

{sunday} shortly before Amelia went down for her morning nap, I left to take Harley for a run. We ended up running 7kms and felt like I was slogging through the kilometers. When I got home, I had a quick shower and blow dried my hair before Amelia got up. In the afternoon, Mr.D went to take the bottles in and run a couple errands. When he got home, I headed out to meet up with two ladies (I was buying and selling some lulu stuff) that lived in the south. On my way home, I made a quick stop at the Tri It store. Mr.D made us a delicious bacon and potato soup for dinner and then it was bath and bedtime for Amelia. We did the yoga workout from 21 day fix and watched tv/wrote this post before heading to bed.

Happy Friday everyone! So glad the weekend is here...but I'm pretty sure I say that every Friday, haha.

This week, we:
  • Monday: we had to take the SUV in to get looked at, so I didn't have a vehicle for the day. We couldn't do too much because of that so we walked Harley and I worked out while Amelia napped. Pretty quiet day.
  • Tuesday: I can't really remember what we did during the day. I know I took Harley and Amelia for a run and showered. So exciting! I left around 5:30pm to run some errands before picking up Jen to meet up with Brie at Craft. We ended up talking until 10:30pm until we all realized what time it was and that we all had to be up early with kids in the morning. Thanks again for the fun night girls!
  • Wednesday: during the day, Amelia and I went to get groceries. I worked out while she napped and then we had to go drop off the car at the dealership as it had to go in as well.
  • Thursday: since the car was in the shop, we didn't have a vehicle again. My friend J, her son and dog came over and we headed out for a walk and some playtime when we got back. The afternoon was spent hanging around the house playing, vacuuming and reading my book while Amelia napped.

The books that I read this week were Loved Walked in and Belong to Me by Marisa de los Santos. I forget who mentioned these books, but I really enjoyed both of them.

The thing that surprised me was how quickly our Christmas cards arrived! I placed the order on Saturday and they were delivered on Wednesday! {I used Vistaprint in case anyone is needing to order some}

{amelia}: ten months

You can find her previous updates here:

Weight/height: not sure as I haven't weighed her in a while

Eyes/hair: still very blue and still blonde. Her hair is growing like crazy!

  • crawling everywhere
  • pulling up on stuff
  • babbling
  • feeding herself
  • bathtime
  • not sitting still
  • pushing her musical walker around
  • when I throw her up and pretend to drop her

  • having her face wiped
  • sitting still to have her diaper changed
Eating: she mainly eats by feeding herself and is pretty good at it! Some days she will let me spoon feed her, but she prefers to pick up and put stuff in her own mouth. Finding stuff that she will eat is challenging as she can be a bit picky. Currently loves: sweet potato, grapes, carrots, puffs, homemade muffins. She is breastfed in the morning and then 1-2 times throughout the day. She has a bottle of formula after each nap and then a bottle of breast milk and formula mixed before bed (usually around 180mLs).

Sleeping: she still goes to bed at 7pm and is usually up between 5-5:45am for a quick feed. She will go back to sleep until 6-7:45am depending on the day, but she is usually up just after 6am. Shortly after she turned 9 months old, we moved her to two naps per day that are usually an hour to two hours long. They are usually around 9am and 2pm.

  • still wearing size 3 diapers
  • celebrated her first Halloween- she was a lady bug!
  • now has 3 teeth- her top right one started to come in shortly after she turned 9 months old
  • this last month has been a big developmental one for her- she went from barely army crawling to full on crawling. She is also pulling up on stuff like crazy and has gone up one stair on her own. The amount she can move astounds me!
  • she also giggles so much now! I love it. I can do the silliest thing and she just giggles!

Weekly workouts

I haven't talked much lately about my workouts as my motivation was struggling for a while. It's finally started to pick back up. I was feeling very sluggish and gross, so I decided to do another round of the 21 day fix. I shouldn't have an excuse not to workout as Amelia has been napping longer which leaves me plenty of time to get an at home workout in. But, some days a nap just wins out!

Monday November 9
  • 3.2km walk
  • 21 day plyo fix

Tuesday November 10
  • 4.26km {5:24/km pace} run with Harley
  • 21 day upper fix

  • 21 day lower fix

Thursday November 12
  • 3.2km walk
  • 21 day pilates fix
  • 4.54km {5:33/km pace} run with Harley. The run was:
    •  1km warm up
    • 3 - 500m hill repeats (2:41, 2:49, 2:50)
    • 700m cool down

Friday November 13

Saturday November 14
  • 21 day dirty 30 fix

Scenes from the weekend

Hello Monday and hello friends! Can the weekends slow down already? Let's see what we were up to this weekend.

{friday} after Amelia's morning nap, we headed out to Cochrane to pick up Harley's dog food (his vet is there and we can only get his food from them). After that, we stopped at the grocery store to get a couple things. When she was down for her afternoon nap, I did a workout. Mr. D got home before Amelia woke up, so I finished up my workout and headed out for a walk with Harley. Mr.D left around dinner to go see the new Bond movie with his co-workers. I put Amelia to bed and just spent the evening watching terrible tv and reading my book in bed. I'm such a wild and crazy person ;)

{saturday} nothing exciting in the morning- Amelia decided 35 minutes was good enough for a nap. Luckily, she was pretty happy. Mr.D's parents came down just after lunch for a visit and we spent the afternoon hanging out. The boys put up the Christmas lights and went to check out a Harley shop. We made beef dips for dinner and had the most delicious salted caramel brownies for dessert (I'm not that fancy, they were from a box!)

{sunday} Mr.D made us a delicious pancake breakfast before his parents headed out. After his parents left, Amelia went down for her nap followed shortly by myself. It was so wonderful! In the afternoon, I took Harley for a run to enjoy the fabulous November weather {if you run on Sundays, make sure you link up with Becky for Sunday Runday!}. After our run, we hung around the house before dropping off the SUV at the dealership as it has to get checked out tomorrow.  I ended the night with some yoga and catching up on shows.

TGIF & a winner

Happy Friday everyone! It was nice having Mr.D home on Wednesday, but threw me off for the rest of the week. On Wednesday night I kept thinking it was Sunday for some reason.

Before I get into my post today, I wanted to announce that Abby won my giveaway from Wild Child Designs. Congratulations! Please email me at bestthingislove (at) gmail (dot) com and I will put you in touch with Jessica.

This week, we:
  • Monday: after Amelia's morning nap, we went to get groceries. When we got home, we had lunch and then took Harley for a walk. While Amelia was sleeping, I did a workout (I started the 21 day fix again) and cleaned the bathroom
  • Tuesday: we ran to the mall to pick up the baby gates and grabbed a couple other things. The rest of the afternoon was spent hanging around the house and playing. I've wanted to go for a massage for a while and found a place close by that could get me in that night, so I went for one at 5pm. It was heaven! After my massage, I ran to Chapters to get a couple things and headed home once I knew Amelia was in bed. I didn't walk Harley during the day, so I took him for a short run.
  • Wednesday: it was Remembrance Day which meant Mr.D was home with us. We actually didn't do much all day. I did a workout while Amelia fought her nap (it was a bad afternoon nap for her) and that's about it.
  • Thursday: after her nap, we took Harley for a walk and then had lunch. After lunch, we ran to Dollarama and Wal-Mart for some craft related stuff. While Amelia was down for her afternoon nap, I did a workout and sent out all the emails related to the blog swap. Amelia also decided to figure out how to crawl up a step this night too!

The best money I spent this week was on some Christmas gifts and birthday gifts. Trying to get everything done soon!

The meals we had were:

Scenes from the weekend

One last friendly reminder before I get into our weekend recap- today is the last day to sign up for the blogger swap. Be sure to leave a comment on this post if you haven't already!

Let's see how good my memory is...

{friday} after Amelia's morning nap, we went over to my friend Keagen's house to have a play date with her and her son C. I met Keagen through our prenatal group, so it's been fun to watch the kids grow up together. We headed home around 1pm to have some lunch and so Amelia could have her afternoon nap. Unfortunately, she had other ideas and took forever to fall asleep. She also decided to sleep for an hour and 45 minutes (!!), which meant that we missed out on a playdate with Alison and Nicole (and kids of course). I was sad, but Amelia is not a happy camper if I wake her her up. Mr.D got home and Amelia was still sleeping, so I took Harley for a short run. Neither of us felt like cooking, so I ran to get us salads from Chopped Leaf. After Amelia went to bed, we just hung out and watched TV.

{saturday} our morning started off really well as we both woke up at 7:20am and realized Amelia was still sleeping!! Mr.D and Justin headed out for their bike date, so Amelia and I hung out at home. We were going to drop by Alison's, but Amelia's late wake up and later nap time messed things up. I had messaged someone to buy a jacket on Kijiji, so we went to pick it up after Amelia's nap. The lady lived close to my friend K's house, so I gave her a call and we dropped by for a quick visit as I hadn't seen her in a while. The rest of the day was spent taking Harley for a walk while Mr.D changed the brakes in our SUV.

Not bad for $8!

{sunday} Mr.D wanted to try out his new griddle, so he made us a delicious breakfast of pancakes and bacon. Yum! After Amelia's nap, we headed to the mall to pick up a birthday gift, return some clothes to Old Navy and look for baby gates at Babies R Us. We had no luck with the gates being in stock that we wanted and shipping is stupid expensive, so we might have to settle for something else. The rest of the afternoon was spent taking Harley for a run and making a chicken pot pie for dinner.

After Amelia was in bed, I ran out to buy a stroller from another lady on Kijiji. I was looking for a smaller, umbrella style one to take with me to Ontario. I ended up getting a Quinny zap that came with a travel bag and rain cover.

That about sums up our weekend!

{wild child designs}

A few weeks ago, I was tagged in a giveaway on Instagram for a knitted headband from Wild Child Designs. I was lucky enough to be chosen as the winner and received it a week later in the mail from Jessica. As soon as I opened up the package, I had to try it on Amelia. I think she was a fan ;)

I ordered it in 6-12 months and it fit her perfectly! The material is so soft with a bit of stretch so I can easily get it on and off of her. Amelia has worn it several times and has had many compliments on it (even from a man!). I also loved that Jessica is based in BC, finding Canadian companies to support.

I loved the headband so much that I contacted Jessica and she has offered to do a giveaway for my lovely readers! She is offering one of you a gift set, which includes a matching headband (any style) and a textured scarf. The winner can choose the size (baby, toddler, or child) and the colour. She has so many options for the colour, so I don't blame you if you have a hard time choosing ;) This gift set would be an awesome Christmas present if you don't have any kids.

This giveaway is open to Canada and the US. The giveaway will run until Thursday November 12, 2015 and the winner will be announced shortly after that.

Canadian Blogger Christmas Swap 2015: Quick Reminder

Just wanted to pop in and give a quick reminder to everyone that the last day to sign up for this year's swap is Tuesday November 10, 2015

There are a couple people that signed up that have no emails or blog information attached to their comment and I need both of those to include you! Those people are: Janelle, Holly Hollyson and Christiane Koffi. Please email me asap at bestthingislove (@) gmail (dot) com. If I don't hear from you by the end of the day Tuesday, we will not be able to include you and I don't want that to happen :)

Happy Friday everyone! We had a quiet week in terms of plans out of the house, but still managed to stay pretty busy. The weather has been crappy making walks less fun now.

This week, we:
  • Monday: in the morning, Amelia had an amazing nap of two hours! After her nap, we went to get groceries and pick up something at Costco. We came home to eat lunch and for Amelia to have another nap (1.5 hours this time!). Once she was up, we took Harley for a walk.
  • Tuesday: we didn't do too much in the morning...I decided to start prepping the hallway walls to repaint them (no colour change) while Amelia napped. When she got up, we took Harley for a walk and spent the day hanging out. We also went to the library to get library cards for both of us and checked out some books. I ended up reading two books to a little girl that was in the kids area with us- it was funny! That night, I ran to Home Depot to get paint and painted the hallway.
  • Wednesday: during Amelia's morning nap, I had to fix one wall that I screwed up the night before. After Amelia's nap, we went for a run and just spent the rest of the day hanging out as Harley was at doggie daycare. I also had a fun time making Amelia laugh:
  • Thursday: I enjoyed a nap while Amelia went down in the morning- I've been tired this week..darn time change! When Amelia got up, we took Harley for a walk, had lunch and ran to Wal-mart for a couple things. When Amelia went down in the afternoon, I got to work making some chicken pot pies to freeze and bring to Alison. I also made chocolate chip cookies. After dinner, I left the house for my night out and decided to get a manicure and pedicure as my brother had sent me money for my birthday. It was wonderful!
I added the pie crust after this picture
The best money I spent this week was on a flight for Amelia and I to go to Ontario in December. There was a seat sale, so it was just over $500 which is still crazy to fly within Canada. I also picked up a couple things for Amelia from Once Upon A Child- went there for other stuff, but had no luck. Last week, I ordered some stuff from Old Navy and it came this week. I got:

Not keeping the bottom right shirt as it fit weird on me. That dress is so comfortable!

The show I am watching is Hockey Wives. It's about wives of Canadian hockey players and is full of drama. Love it!

The meals we had were:

 Have a great weekend everyone!

My breast feeding journey

Julie from The Girl in the Red Shoes does a series of posts about different moms and their breast feeding journey. I love reading them and wanted to write mine down before I forget parts of it (let's be honest, I'm sure with my terrible memory I've already forgotten some!).

When I was pregnant and we were taking the prenatal classes, they covered breast feeding, but nothing prepares you quite like having your baby here and actually doing it! I knew that I wanted to try breast feeding if all went well with Amelia and myself. Everything in the class made it seem like breast feeding was going to be this super easy and natural thing, but it didn't work out like that for us.

After Amelia was born, I didn't try to get her to latch until we were in our postpartum room. I think I was in a bit of shock after she was born and wasn't quite ready to try. I had no idea how to hold her, but a few nurses came in and out and helped when they could. There is nothing like a nurse massaging your breasts to help collect the colostrum while your mom in the room ;) Luckily, I had lots of colostrum as Amelia wasn't latching very well. When we were in the hospital, we met with the lactation consultant a few times, but still weren't having much luck. It also didn't help that I wasn't connecting with the lactation consultant and felt like she wasn't in the right profession. She was able to tell me that my nipples were flat, which makes it harder to breastfed. The LC had me pump a couple minutes before I tried to breastfed to pull my nipples out. If the nursing session wasn't successful, I would syringe feed the colostrum to Amelia. Before we left the hospital, we had to introduce formula as my milk wasn't in yet and Amelia needed to eat. I felt guilty about it, but I wanted to go home so badly and had hoped it wasn't going to be a long term thing.

Once we were home, I continued to pump/attempt to breastfed/syringe feed Amelia. A big thank you goes out to Mr.D as we were up every 3 hours during the night to do the whole feeding process, and I couldn't have done it without him! I can't remember exactly when my milk came in, but oh man did it ever come in! The next struggle came with having very engorged breasts that it made it difficult for Amelia to nurse. A day after being home, the nurse came by to check up on Amelia and myself. I mentioned struggling with breastfeeding and she referred us to a community clinic that had a lactation consultant. This LC was so amazing! She was kind, caring and actually talked to me like a mom who was struggling. She recommended using a nipple shield (we tried with and without it while we were there and Amelia was able to get so much milk!) because of my flat nipples. Leaving that appointment, I felt so much better about breastfeeding and going in the right direction.

In the following days, we also went to the lactation clinic that is attached to the maternity clinic where I went to. The LC there was also great and noticed that Amelia had a tongue tie. Mr.D and I decided to have her snip it right then (they do it in the clinic and it only takes a couple of minutes). That also seemed to help a lot! We left there feeling good once again and scheduled a follow up appointment for the next week. The next appointment (we saw a different LC) was not good. The LC made me feel like a terrible mother as she thought Amelia was suckling and being lazy at the breast and not getting anything. I wanted to scream at her and be like "I have no f*cking clue what I am doing or how it is to be done!!". I left there in tears and she wanted us to come back the next week to check her weight as she thought it wasn't going up as it should.

Over the next week, things were starting to improve, but I was so nervous that Amelia wasn't getting enough and that I was failing her. Luckily, she gained triple the amount of weight they wanted her to the next week! I had intended to wean her off the nipple shield, but it was working and why mess with it? I can't remember exactly when we stopped using it, but I think it was around 4-5 months. One day Amelia just wouldn't eat with it on, so I was able to get her to latch without it and we just kept going from there. I felt shame about having to use it at first, but it meant that I was able to breastfed.

I was very lucky and had a huge supply of milk. Amelia refused to take a bottle (we only gave her a bottle for the first couples of days while at home until my milk came in) for 3-4 months, and I would be so engorged each morning that I would have to pump. I ended up signing up to be a breast milk donor for the Calgary Mother's Milk Bank and ended up donating almost 12Ls. That blows my mind!

When Amelia was around 8 months old, my period returned and my milk supply took a huge nosedive. I felt like I didn't have enough to make it through the day and give Amelia a bottle at night, so we made the decision to introduce formula. I felt guilty at first about it, but realized that I was able to provide Amelia with breast milk solely for 8 months and that is pretty amazing. Right now, Amelia is almost 9.5 months old and I breast feed 2-3 times per day and still pump in the morning if need be. She gets 1-2 bottles of formula and then a bottle of breast milk before bed (I still have a stock pile frozen that I didn't donate).

If I had to tell a pregnant/new mom to be one thing about breast feeding, it would have to be don't stress if it's hard. Everyone's journey is so much different and it doesn't come easy for everyone. Stick with it, ask for help and it will get better! Enjoy those never ending nursing sessions in the beginning as tough as they can be. Oh and buy nipple cream and breast pads! They will be your best friend :)

This and that

I don't feel like I have a lot to blog about lately, so you are getting a bunch of random thoughts from me today.
  • Rachel and Brie have both mentioned doing some painting/repairs in their house and they sparked my motivation. I did all the prep work in our front hallway yesterday morning and then painted when Amelia went to bed. I splurged and bought the Behr marquee paint which only takes one coat. So worth the extra money!
  • does anyone watch Ellen? I've been PVR'ing the episodes and then watching them later on and her Halloween episode was hilarious. Speaking of shows- has anyone watched Keeping Canada Alive on CBC? It's a series following different patients all across Canada and it's pretty interesting!
  • don't forget to sign up for the Canadian blog swap if you are interested! Leave a comment on this post. If Janelle is reading, can you please email me as I don't have an email or blog for you :) My email is bestthingislove {at}
  • has anyone seen this video from Barbie? It's so good!
  •  I was going to order some new casual jewellery from Modern B Boutique but it seems to have gone under. Does anyone know of a similar company that is Canadian and won't break the bank?
  • remember when we did family pictures back in August when we were in Ontario? Well, we did and I still haven't gotten them back. I'm trying not to bug the photographer too much, but it's going on 13 weeks.
Tell me: something random!

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! We had a busy, but fun weekend. Let's see what we were up to:

{friday} during the day, we didn't do too much. Took Harley for a run and went to the grocery store for a couple things for dinner. Once Mr.D got home from playing squash with some co-workers, I headed out to meet Brie to see a movie. We went to see The Intern, which was pretty cute and feel good. After the movie, we looked around in Old Navy and then ended up chatting for a while in the hallway. Thanks again for meeting up with me, Brie! :)

{saturday} Amelia treated us to a nice sleep in (pretty sure she got up at 7:50am which NEVER happens in our house!). Mr.D got up with her and I was able to sleep in until 8:30am which was delightful! Mr.D went to meet up with some friends to watch the rugby game. While he was gone, Amelia had a nap and I did a 21 day fix workout. Once she was up and Mr.D was home, we headed out to a Halloween party with our prenatal group. It was a little chaotic, but fun to see everyone and all the babies dressed up!

We left the party close to Amelia's nap time, so she would sleep when we got home. When she went down for her nap, I left to take Harley for a walk. We handed out candy that night and I think we ended up getting around 75 kids. After Amelia went down for the night, we finished watching Trainwreck.

{sunday} Amelia was up on and off early in the morning (darn time change!), so I fed her around 5am and she went back to sleep until 6:45am. We had a lazy morning around the house and both napped/laid in bed while Amelia had her morning nap. Once she was up, I headed out with Harley for a run. We got stuck in the rain and wind, which sucked big time! We ended up going 9kms and they felt pretty good. I got home, showered and ate some lunch before doing a couple loads of laundry and hanging out at home. Mr.D made us a delicious dinner of lasagna (so many left overs!). Amelia was gave us a 2 hour 15 minute nap, which was amazing!

Tell me: how was your weekend?
