{amelia}: eighteen months

Holy moly, Amelia is a 1.5 years old! Where the heck has time gone?! This age is pretty darn fun though.

I feel like she has changed so much in the last two months since I updated. The major thing is that she is finally walking! She started walking full time around 16.5 months and she never slows down now. Always on the go and usually carrying at least two things in her hands. She especially loves putting shirts or sweaters around her shoulders and running around like that.

such a goofball! 16 months
She had a doctors appointment last week, and she was almost 24 pounds. Girlfriend loves her some food! Haha. Her belly doesn't seem to be getting any smaller, which is hilarious. Speaking of food, she especially loves any type of carb. She also loves grapes, raisins, yogurt, cheese, pasta. Still doesn't like meat at all. Also still seriously loves her bottle of milk. One day we will get rid of them ;)

Amelia has a very strong personality and little patience like her mother ;) Her favourite word these days is no. Over and over and over again. We hear it a lot if we try and get her to do something that she doesn't want to do (ie: changing her diaper or getting her pajamas on). As crazy and temperamental as she can be, she also gives the best two armed- around the neck hugs. Nothing beats those! Mr.D gets her up every morning, and when he goes in there, she is always like daddy! It's so cute.

She's still a great sleeper. Goes to bed between 7:15-7:30am and is usually up between 6:15-6:30am. Naps once a day for an hour at the day home, and then usually 1.5-2.5 hours at home on the weekend. Has recently started insisting that her two babies and her puppy dog go to bed with her each night.

Her favorite things include: the water table, hiding between the toilet and wall before bath time, running laps around the island, telling Harley no when he stands by her highchair at dinner.

In terms of clothes, she is wearing mostly 18-24 months or 2T shirts thanks her belly. Pants are usually 12months as she's got short little legs. Still wearing size 4 diapers in the swaddlers and baby dry.

Oh and let's not forget her chompers- she has at least 12-14 now (she doesn't let us in there very often). She got two molars and an eye tooth in a two weeks. Any tips of how to get her to let us brush her teeth? It's impossible!

You can read some things that I don't want to forget about this age here.

We love you Amelia!

  2. She looks like so much fun!
Swede had a bottle of milk at nap and bedtime well past the one year mark, I just thought, Oh well at least she's drinking milk! Then one day she just wasn't into it anymore. She doesn't drink milk anymore at all now. Although eats plenty of cheese & yogurt to make up for it!

  3. Awww she's just so adorable! I love her little belly! Haha!! I remember this age...it is a fun one, and it just keeps getting more and more fun! Brushing teeth is tough, some days Sully is really good about it, other days it's a struggle. Then we pulled out our electric tooth brush and he loves it! So now we just need to get him a child's version :)

  4. She is so cute!! Her belly is the best! Brushing teeth is hard. We let the kids do their own first and then we go in after to actually brush them! I've heard some people have success using electric brushes for their kids.

  5. What a little sweetheart! It is a fun stage for sure, my friend's little girl is about the same age and doing so many cute things right now! :)

  6. How is she already 18 months! I love watching the videos on Snapchat on her, she is such a goofy girl. She reminds me of A in many ways! And like I told you that "no" stage? Still strong over here most days ;)
Man, brushing teeth last summer was BAD - so same age as Amelia. Toothpaste (TOMS brand) helped, that and just being persistent with it and letting them to do it too.

  7. Before you know it, she's going to be two! Such a sweet, silly girl. I love her big belly!! I still struggle with teeth brushing with Liam these days so don't stress too much.

  8. Aww, 18 months! Amelia seems like such a hoot to be around and she's just such a beautiful lil gal!
For brushing teeth we had the most success standing Josie up in front of the mirror and having her watch one of us brush our teeth while asking her to do the same. And lots of cheering. Eventually she let us help her finish!

  9. She is so darn cute! She sounds like she is sweet and spunky, just like her mom! It's so fun when more and more of their personalities start to shine through. The fact that she took to walking so quickly once she decided to do it just goes to show that you shouldn't stress out when they aren't doing things when you think they could/should (although that is easier said than done, I'm sure!).

  11. She's so cute! I just starting brushing Amelia's teeth with toothpaste (around the 9 month mark) and it's actually the one thing she loves -- she likes to do it herself (and I help too). Of course, she just barely has 6 teeth now so it's a little easier. Changing her diaper, on the other hand, takes all of my body strength, ha!
