{amelia}: twenty two months

I feel like I don't have that much to update you on Amelia, yet so much at the same time. Does that even make any sense? I'm a little late posting this, but Amelia just turned twenty two months old. Crazy that her second birthday is just right around the corner!

Amelia is learning so much and catching on to things so quickly! She knows that if someone is sleeping (ie: when I pretend to sleep on the couch), she puts her finger to her lips and go shhh. She does that with her baby when she puts it to sleep too. I love it! She also loves coloring now and gets so excited if you draw something for her and then she colors it in. Another favourite thing of hers lately is bears. She will point them out in books, on tv, etc.

We've had a few rough mornings that included her screaming when we leave for the day home in the morning. We haven't figured out why, as she's happy when we drop her off and happy when we pick her up. She's also had a major rash and now a cold, so lots of sickness for our sweet girl lately.

Another struggle we are having lately is her not wanting to eat any dinner. Sometimes it's not worth the battle and we know she will eat something if she gets hungry. When she does eat, she loves: grapes, cheese, pasta, yogurt, raisins, bananas. One day we'll get some variety in there ;)

She celebrated her second Halloween and dressed as a monkey, but was unfortunately sick, so didn't get to go trick or treating. Next year :)  She isn't the biggest fan of being in the stroller for long periods of time when I'm walking Harley now, so our walks are just a wee bit slower now with her walking. She loves picking up rocks along the way and then throwing them out of the stroller later.

When we took her to the doctor earlier in November, she weighed 26 pounds (she's a solid girl, haha). Wearing 2T shirts and 18-24 month pants. In size 4 diapers and probably will be for a bit still.

We love you Amelia!

  1. The eating and day home drop offs I found always had ups and downs, good days and bad and for no real rhyme or reason. Liam went through lots of phases of not wanting to eat dinner but I didn't ever worry about it. He also went through tons of phases of terrible drop offs and it was always harder on me than him and he'd be happily playing as soon as I was to my car.

I can't believe Amelia is going to be two soon! Where does the time go?

  2. Avery did the same thing with supper for a long time. At Dayhome we found out she snacked 2-3x after lunch so she just wasn't hungry. I agree they won't starve themselves so it's not worth the fight!

  3. Dinner is still a daily battle at almost three. Some days he just wants yogurt or "breakfast" for dinner lol. Some days it's amazing how they can thrive on such a little amount of food!

    I can't believe she's almost 2! It goes so fast, doesn't it?!

Right around 2 was Swede's pickiest eating phase. She has gotten much better about eating a variety of foods and trying new things in the last few months, so hopefully it doesn't last too long for A either.

  6. She is such a cutie! I hope she has a healthy stretch ahead of her. She sure is growing fast and changes so much each month it seems. I've heard that meal time is an absolute battle around this age and that kids will go from loving something to hating it overnight!! Crazy!!
