{amelia}: eighteen months

Holy moly, Amelia is a 1.5 years old! Where the heck has time gone?! This age is pretty darn fun though.

I feel like she has changed so much in the last two months since I updated. The major thing is that she is finally walking! She started walking full time around 16.5 months and she never slows down now. Always on the go and usually carrying at least two things in her hands. She especially loves putting shirts or sweaters around her shoulders and running around like that.

such a goofball! 16 months
She had a doctors appointment last week, and she was almost 24 pounds. Girlfriend loves her some food! Haha. Her belly doesn't seem to be getting any smaller, which is hilarious. Speaking of food, she especially loves any type of carb. She also loves grapes, raisins, yogurt, cheese, pasta. Still doesn't like meat at all. Also still seriously loves her bottle of milk. One day we will get rid of them ;)

Amelia has a very strong personality and little patience like her mother ;) Her favourite word these days is no. Over and over and over again. We hear it a lot if we try and get her to do something that she doesn't want to do (ie: changing her diaper or getting her pajamas on). As crazy and temperamental as she can be, she also gives the best two armed- around the neck hugs. Nothing beats those! Mr.D gets her up every morning, and when he goes in there, she is always like daddy! It's so cute.

She's still a great sleeper. Goes to bed between 7:15-7:30am and is usually up between 6:15-6:30am. Naps once a day for an hour at the day home, and then usually 1.5-2.5 hours at home on the weekend. Has recently started insisting that her two babies and her puppy dog go to bed with her each night.

Her favorite things include: the water table, hiding between the toilet and wall before bath time, running laps around the island, telling Harley no when he stands by her highchair at dinner.

In terms of clothes, she is wearing mostly 18-24 months or 2T shirts thanks her belly. Pants are usually 12months as she's got short little legs. Still wearing size 4 diapers in the swaddlers and baby dry.

Oh and let's not forget her chompers- she has at least 12-14 now (she doesn't let us in there very often). She got two molars and an eye tooth in a two weeks. Any tips of how to get her to let us brush her teeth? It's impossible!

You can read some things that I don't want to forget about this age here.

We love you Amelia!

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! The theme for the weekend was rain, rain and more rain. It's honestly rained everyday for at least a week. At least our grass is looking pretty great ;)

[friday] I'm trying to think if we did anything after I got home from work, but I can't remember so it must have been a quiet evening :) I think the only noteable thing from the day was that Amelia slept in until 7:15am that morning! That never happens in our house.

off to school she goes
[saturday]  I got up with Amelia and we hung out until Mr.D got up. Once he was up, he made us some delicious chocolate chip pancakes. Best way to start a Saturday! After breakfast, I got changed and headed out to the Glenmore reservoir for my long run of 18kms. I ended up parking at North Glenmore Park and going counter clockwise around the reservoir. I almost made it back, but it ended up starting to rain on me in the last four kilometers.

When I was done my run, Mr.D had messaged me to say that him and Amelia were heading to the mall since it was so crappy out. Amelia was more than happy to just walk everywhere in the mall, so we just wandered for a bit. We grabbed some lunch and then headed home.

Amelia went down for a nap when we got home, and ended up sleeping for 3 hours! We had to wake her up as it was 4:30pm and knew she wouldn't go to bed then. Once she was up, we had some dinner and then hung out. She didn't end up going to bed until 8pm. Mr.D and I watched Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, which was okay. Nothing great.

[sunday] in the morning, Mr.D and Justin went for their bike date, so Amelia and I went to grab some groceries. When we got home, I cleaned out the fridge {how does so much crud end up in there?!} and then put the groceries away. The sun was finally shining, so we decided to hang out on the deck. Amelia's water table was super full thanks to all of the rain we have been having. She played in it and moved the water to her bucket for at least 30 minutes! She was absolutely soaked, but had so much fun!

Amelia went down for a nap around 1:15pm, so I crawled into bed and had a nap myself before heading out for a run with Harley. We made it just over 7kms before the dark skies were getting closer and the wind started to pick up. I was supposed to run at least 10kms, but the darn rain put a stop to that!

The rest of the day was spent hanging out, making dinner and getting ready for another week at work.

Fitness Friday

Happy Friday everyone! This week has felt super long for some reason, so I am super excited the weekend is here. Let's see how my training went for the last week:

Saturday July 9th
  • 16km long run
    • 3k easy, 10k tempo, 3k easy
    • 5:13/km average pace

Sunday July 10th
  • 10.25km easy run with Harley
    •  5:50/km average pace

Monday July 11th
  • power flow yoga- a yoga place next to work had a free week, so I decided to try it out since I could go during my lunch hour. My arms/shoulders were so sore the next day!

Tuesday July 12th
  • I was feeling super tired from being on my feet all day for our work Stampede BBQ, so I chatted with Solana and decided to do an easy run instead
  • 7kms, 6:00/km average pace

Wednesday July 13th
  • barre fit - I was sweaty by the end!

Thursday July 14th
  • 1km warm up/cool down, 2 min on/ 2 min off x 6, 3 min on/ 3 min off x4
    • 10.22kms
    • it started raining pretty close to when I left for my run, so I was soaked for the first 30 mins. I did see a rainbow near the end of it though!

I don't want to forget

Since going back to work, I feel like life is just flying by. I was looking back through some pictures on my computer from when Amelia was a baby, and felt like it all went by in a blur. Before I forget certain things that Amelia is doing at almost 18 months old, I thought I would share some of them.

  • the amazing, double arm around the neck hugs she gives me
  • how she says dadda in such a happy voice in the morning when Mr.D goes to get her
  • her "oh wow" face
  • how her favourite word is no and LOVES to say it
  • every morning, I put her on our bathroom counter while I brush my teeth. Once I am done, I stand her up and she loves to "stamp" her feet
  • when I'm getting her bath ready, she loves to sit between the wall and toilet and pretend to hide on me
  • how much she hates putting her pjs on after her bath
  • how she loves to run around the house with a random piece of clothing around her neck or on her head
  • her giggles when we pretend to chase her around the house
  • how she loves to bring us different shoes for us to put on and then giggles when we put them on our feet

Scenes from the weekend

Happy Monday everyone! Another busy weekend around these parts. Lots of crazy thunderstorms too!

[friday] after work on Friday, I went straight to the mall as I desperately need some new summer clothes (shorts, bathing suit, etc). I had zero luck for myself minus a tank top and a pair of sandals, but did walk out with a new roller for my calves, some clothes for Amelia and some hair stuff for Mr.D. I sometimes hate shopping so much! I got home right as Amelia was going to bed, so I had a quick cuddle with her.

[saturday] in the morning, Mr.D and Justin went for their bike date, so I decided to take Amelia to the Bowness stampede parade. I was parking on a side street and as I got out of the car, this older lady came out of the duplex and was like "you're not parking there are you?" in a super rude voice. I kind of looked around and said yes, there are not any 'no parking' signs. She then said that she just called her daughter and told her there was parking (there was also a parking spot right behind me or across the street). I kept going about getting the stroller and Amelia out of the car. As soon as she saw Amelia her tune totally changed and was super friendly. It was so weird!

Anyways, we ended up being near the end of the parade, so we had to wait a bit before it went by us. Amelia loved watching everything go by and trying to join it, haha. We also got a bunch of candy! Once the parade was done, we went to Bowness Park for a little bit. Amelia ended up falling asleep on our way home, but she luckily transferred from the car seat to crib without any issue.

Amelia woke up on the wrong side of the crib, so it was a LONG afternoon/evening until bedtime. All she wanted to do was whine, say no over and over again, and hit me in the face.

I ended up deciding to run from home to Shouldice Park for my long run of 16kms and Mr.D and Amelia picked me up.

[sunday] my BIL, SIL and nieces were in town, so we went to meet them for brunch before they drove home. It was a quick visit and all Amelia wanted to do was walk all over the lobby. Life with a toddler! After brunch, we stopped at CrossIron Mills, and I had a bit more luck. Found a bathing suit, jean jacket and a tank top. Still no shorts though! Where does one find cute jean shorts that aren't super short?

Excited about her new shoes!

We got home around 12:30pm and Amelia went down for a nap shortly after that. I headed out with Harley for my easy run and it was hot and windy! We ended up running just over 10kms.

The rest of the day was just spent hanging out at home and watching a new TV series called The Affair. Has anyone else watched it?

Scenes from the weekend: Canada Day, hiking, park time

Happy Monday everyone! We had a fun, and busy weekend. Let's see what we were up to:

[thursday] we'll start with Thursday night- after dinner, we took Amelia for a wagon ride and she decided that she wanted to walk more than ride. Let's just say it was a slow walk :)

Once Amelia was in bed, I went for a 60 min (11.39km) easy run. It was a hot one though!

[friday] it was Canada Day, and we decided to head to the mountains with Alison & her family for a hike. The highway was insanely slow as there was at least two accidents. We finally made it out to Elbow Lake, and Amelia proceeded to lose it when we put her in the hiking back pack. Let's just say the beginning of the hike was not so much fun, but she luckily calmed down. It is a short, but steep hike to the top where there are communal fire pits, so we roasted some hot dogs. We had both of the dogs with us, so we let them go for a swim before we headed back down. Luckily, Amelia was much happier this time!

The drive home was much better and Amelia had a much needed nap. We didn't do much for the rest of the night as we were pretty tired.

[saturday] in the morning, Mr.D and Justin headed out for their bike date. Amelia and I had no plans and it was a gorgeous morning, so we headed down to Bowness Park. We ended up staying there playing on the play ground and walking around for almost two hours!

Once Mr.D got home and Amelia went down for a nap, I headed out for a hot and terrible long run. My mind and legs just weren't into the run, so it made for a long 16kms. Got it done though. The rest of the night was spent watching OITNB and hanging out at home.

[sunday] after I got up, Mr.D headed out for groceries while Amelia and I hung out at home making cookies. Amelia was a bit of a grump {figured out later it was because she had to poop}, but we got through it. After Mr.D returned, I headed out with Harley for a run. I decided to run from our house to Bowness Park and that Mr.D & Amelia would meet us there. We got there and super dark clouds had rolled in, so we didn't end up staying too long.

After Amelia's nap, we headed out for a get together with our baby group. It was fun to see all of the kids together and catch up with the other moms.

And, there is another weekend gone!
