{baby d 2.0}: twenty four and twenty five weeks

Twenty four weeks

Twenty five weeks

Feeling: overall, still pretty good and no major complaints. Feeling much better after last week. Heartburn is still out of control and I just finished my first bottle of Tums last night.

Workouts: I was doing really well with working out until I got sick last week. Before that, it was lots of walks and then workouts at home. Some days it feels good and other days depending on how he is positioned, it doesn't feel great. Aka if he's sitting low which makes me have to pee three times during one workout.

The baby is the size of:

Other:
  • had my next check up at the maternity clinic last week, and the belly was measuring as should. His heart rate was in the 120's this time. Otherwise, everything else was good.
  • scheduled my glucose test for next week
  • I was looking at the calendar to try and plan another trip to Ontario before I can't fly, and realized I only have about three months of work left. That's crazy!
  • Twenty four week and twenty five week update with Amelia

Life Lately

Oh man, I didn't mean to take a blogging break, but last week was not good for me. I ended up not feeling well from Tuesday to Thursday, so I basically spent each day in bed either napping or watching Gilmore Girls. I barely ate those days, so I was feeling super tired and low energy. Luckily, it passed and I went back to work on Friday.

Let's rewind to two weekends ago: I was off on Friday and it was teacher's convention for Brian, so we went to get ramen for lunch. It was a bit of a wait this time, but so good and so worth it! That night, I picked my cousin up from the airport who had a layover until the next day when she was returning from Mexico. I haven't seen her for a while, so it was nice to catch up even for a short time! In the afternoon, Brian's brother, his wife and three kids came into town. They hung out at our house for the afternoon which was nice to spend time with them.

The next day, we met them at the Science Centre since the weather was crappy (or else we would have gone to the zoo). All of the girls had fun and it was nice to see them. Monday was family day and we didn't do too much- pretty much hung out around the house and did the normal weekend things.

In the afternoon, Amelia and I went to Audrey and Leo's birthday party. I wasn't sure how it was going to go as she had a super short nap, but she had fun and the only tears were due to a balloon that went off into the sky when we were leaving.

Okay, now that you are all caught up, let's talk about this weekend.

{friday} I went back to work that day, so we had a pretty quiet night at home. Brian had taken Harley for a ride in the coulee when we got home, so we hung out and practised sitting on the potty ;)

{saturday} we had a quiet start to the day as Brian and Justin went for a bike ride in the later morning. Amelia and I headed out shortly after that to make our way down south for Sully's birthday party. She ended up falling asleep half way there, so we were a little delayed going into the party. We had a great time at Sully's dinasour party- thanks for having us, Brie!

When we got home in the afternoon, I took Harley for a walk and then went to pick us up some take out as neither of us felt like cooking.

{sunday} it was snowy and cold out, so we had a quiet morning at home. I got a bit of motivation and decided to make cookies with Amelia. She didn't quite get the waiting for them to bake concept, but I think she had fun :)

I also finally decided to tackle our pantry- it was pretty messy as stuff just got put in there wherever when we moved. Feels much better to have it finally organized!

In the afternoon, I headed out to check out Tara (Top Knot Mommy's) event that she was putting on with Alison and her mom. It was a fun afternoon of a workout, yoga and treats. You should definitely check out the next one!

Tell me: how is your weekend?

{baby d 2.0}: twenty three weeks

23 weeks

This week's post will be a bit of a catch up post since I haven't posted a weekly pregnancy recap since twenty weeks

Feeling: overall, still pretty good. My lower back started hurting around twenty one weeks, which was oddly the same with Amelia. Still lots of heartburn, but the headaches have decreased which is nice. I can definitely feel it in my hips/groin if I overdo it with walking or exercising.

There was a week where I was super tired and I was either in bed or falling asleep on the couch by 9pm.

I will admit that I am struggling with my pregnant body this time- between my boobs, butt and face, they are all expanding pretty rapidly. I know it's only for a period of time, but still hard.

22 weeks

Workouts: lots of walks either with Harley or at lunch, and then I am either doing workouts from Fitness Blender or 21 day fix with modifications.

Other: this baby is a wiggle worm some days! On the weekend, I was sitting on the couch and he moved so much that you could see my belly move. Pretty cool!

22 weeks

Not going so well in the name department- we've got super short list, but are finding that boy names are hard.

Made our first baby related purchase- bought a new to us City Select stroller that came with the two seats. I knew I wanted a double stroller if I was going to be going out with both kids as I wasn't a huge fan of baby wearing with Amelia. Also because Amelia likes to have tantrums and run away from me, so I knew I can't wrangle her plus a stroller :) I was having trouble finding the car seat adapter I needed for the stroller, but found one on a buy and sell group and Brie kindly picked it up for me since it was near her.

This and that

A little bit of randomness coming at you today.
  • remember when I talked about how a parcel of ours went missing from our old house? I have no idea where the communication break down was, but Brian ended up going over there (we had the city assessment that was sent to us for them). Turns out they had our parcel plus a bunch of other mail for us. We had left them one of our cell phone numbers, but it apparently didn't work for them. Oh well, glad they had everything for us!
  • I had my first labour and delivery dream last week- and it was a weird one!
  • I mentioned this on Twitter, but please for the love of god don't record an IG story right after you eat. I hate when people move those random bits of food left in their mouth around with their tongue while talking. Grosses me out! And no stories while you/someone is eating. Maybe that's just me as I HATE the sound of people eating.
  • I also mentioned this on Twitter, but are podcasts the new blogs? Feels like lots of the bloggers are starting their own podcasts.
  • here are some recent meals we've had:
We don't have much planned for the weekend- Harley has a vet appointment on Saturday and then Brian is going biking on Sunday. I kind of want to do a fun craft with for Valentine's with Amelia, but we'll see how co-operative she is ;)

Have a great weekend everyone!

Scenes from the weekend + Brie's baby shower

Happy Monday everyone! We had a good weekend even though we got a huge dump of snow. And more to come over the next day or so.

{friday} Brian was playing squash after school with co-workers, so it was just Amelia and I for a while. We had dinner and hung out while I did a workout. Once Amelia was in bed, I made some cookie dough and did some other prep for Brie's shower on Sunday.

{saturday} we were both wide awake before 7am (I had a terrible sleep that night), so I got started on making cookies before Amelia woke up. In the later morning, Brian went to get groceries while Amelia and I went to the library to pick up some books. After the library, we stopped at Tim Horton's for two Tim Bits. Let's just say that someone was very upset that hers were gone and mom wasn't buying anymore ;)

She went down for a much needed 3 hour nap, so I had one myself and then took Harley for a walk. We didn't do much the rest of the day- just hung out and picked up take out for dinner.

{sunday} baby shower day! I spent the morning getting the house and food ready for the shower. Brian was kind of enough to entertain Amelia and then take her to the mall to get out of the house while I got ready. The weather wasn't the greatest, so we had some people cancel coming, but I think it still turned out great!

If you know Brie at all, you know that she loves reading. I decided to go with a book theme for the shower, which was made super easy thanks to Pinterest! For the food, we had:

Meatballs- cloudy with a chance of meatballs
Quiche- green eggs and ham
Caramel corn- hop on pop
Muffins- if you give a moose a muffin (thanks again Alison!)
Cookies- if you give a mouse a cookie
Veggies- the tale of peter rabbit
Fruit skewers- the hungry caterpillar
Goldfish and blue whales candy- one fish, two fish, etc

Thanks for your help Alison and Nicole! And to everyone that was able to come today :)

Tell me: how was your weekend?
