Happy new year!

Happy new year everyone! Did you have a nice Christmas? Do anything exciting for NYE? We had a super quiet NYE and Amelia came down with a fever in the afternoon. Luckily it didn't stay too long and she was back to normal the next day.

Over the Christmas break, my mom flew in to spend Christmas with us. This was the first year since Brian and I have been together that we haven't traveled to Edmonton or Ontario, and it was nice. Our Christmas morning consisted of Amelia opening presents (and saying "what happened out here?" when we got her out of bed and she saw the presents), and having a delicious breakfast casserole. For dinner, Brian made an amazing prime rib dinner with all of the fixings. We also invited one of my co-workers and his wife over as they had no plans, so it was a nice casual dinner.

While my mom was here, we managed to do a lot of stuff! My mom took Amelia to a movie, out for lunch, shopping to pick out a gift from her for Gabe, Brian and myself. We also went to zoo lights, to the Calgary Reads house, played in the snow, etc.

Christmas morning

Tell me: how was your Christmas and NY?

  1. Those Christmas lights are amazing! Sounds like you had so much fun when your mom visited. I bet Amelia was really sad to see her go! This Christmas was not my favorite. I came down with a bad chest cold the weekend of Christmas so I did not feel well and couldn't wait to get home to our own house (we spent 2 nights at my MIL's). Also have gestational diabetes around the holidays kind of put a damper on things as I have to watch what I eat so closely and my MIL kept offering me things I can't have (gelato, ice cream, banana bread, etc) even though I told her in advance that I would not be able to eat any sweets for the rest of the pregnancy. So even though it sounds grinchy to say this, I was really glad when Christmas was over... Our New Years was very low key as well. It was basically just another normal weekend night for us. I went to bed early as I'm still fighting this stupid chest cold. Phil did stay up until midnight reading but there was no New Years kiss since I slept in the guest room since I have been coughing so much at night. But things can only get better from here! And even though 2017 was an amazing year, I'm glad it's 2018 as that means I only have about 2 more months left of being pregnant! Woo hoo!!

  2. Glad Amelia's fever was short lived! We went to friend's house which is always fun and allows us to spent NYE with the kids too :) You guys had so much fun while your Mom was here! My only wish was the weather was a tad warmer - we got cabin fever!!

  3. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun for the holidays. We did not accomplish as much but managed to have a nice quiet Christmas with my parents. NYE was fun at a friends place (with Lindsey!) which I wasn't sure if I'd make it since I had been battling a nasty sinus cold.

  4. Oh my gosh Amelia is CUTE. I bet it was so nice to just stay home this Christmas!! We had a busy Christmas as we hosted around 20 people at our house for Christmas dinner. It was nice to have both sides of the family together but next year I really want to spend one full day with Eric's family and one full day with mine as trying to balance the two families on the 25th is a bit exhausting. Luckily we all live close enough together we should be able to manage that!

  5. Glad you had such a good Christmas break with your Mom. You guys were busy. Glad Amelia's fever didn't last long. D had that one day too, was burning up and then woke up fine!
