Gabriel is o-fish-ally one!

The weekend before Gabe's first birthday, we had a party for him. I decided on a fish related theme, hence the title of this post :) It ended up being a nice day outside, so we were luckily able to all be outside.

Most of the kids were closer to Amelia's age, so I set up our kiddie pool with some fishing rods, nets, rubber duckies, etc. I also had a pin the fin on the fish game, which the kids liked. They all seemed to have fun!

On Gabe's actual birthday, Brian took the day off, so we took the kids to an indoor play centre (the weather wasn't nice that day). The day also included birthday balloons in the crib and a yummy crave cupcake!

Scenes from the week + end

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you had a great weekend- we did!

Last Monday, I flew to Ontario to spend some time with my dad. Brian's mom was kind to come watch the kids for us while I was gone and Brian was working. They had fun and even happened upon the colossal play date at the library the one day. Amelia didn't ask me each night when I was coming home, which was an improvement.

While I was gone, I spent time with my dad. The last time I was in Ontario, I didn't get to spend a lot of time with my dad as it's hard with the kids. I don't think I've mentioned it a lot, but my dad has Alzheimer's, and has had some decline in the past couple of months. Besides seeing my dad, I got to spend some time with my mom and brother.

I got back early on Friday morning, and lucky Amelia caught pink eye the day before. Brian got her in for drops pretty quickly, so it didn't get too bad. Because of it, I didn't want to go out so we had a quiet day on Friday.

Saturday morning was absolutely miserable and pouring rain! Because of that, we had a quiet morning at home. In the evening, I went to meet my cousin for dinner as she was in town for a conference.

On Sunday morning, Brian and Justin went biking, so the kids and I hung out. We played outside, cleaned up the garden, and enjoyed the sunshine! In the afternoon, we picked up my cousin up from the train station. We went for a trail run and then hung out at home with the kids. She flew home that night, which was too soon!

The weekend before I left, I took the kids out to Banff on Friday to see my in-laws and nieces who were camping there for the weekend. It was overcast and kind of cold when we got there, but ended up being a nice day out.

On Father's day, Brian went out for a bike ride, so the kids and I went for an adventure to the river to throw rocks.  In the evening, I convinced Brian to come to Nose Hill Park with me while I ran (he biked). It was a gorgeous evening, and nice to be able to get out together (his mom was at our house).
