Birthday celebrations, Moose Mountain, family time

We woke up to a very cold (-10C) and snowy Monday morning. Not the best way to start a week, but the kids were in good moods this morning so no complaining there! We had a great weekend- let's see what we did.

Friday started with a beautiful sunrise!

Saturday was my birthday, and I got to spend the morning going for a run/hike with some friends. We decided to try going up Moose Mountain as most of us had never done it (and it was closed all summer). On our drive out there, we saw a deer, a moose, and lots of wild horses! For the run/hike, we were aiming for the fire look out on top of Moose Mountain, but the wind was crazy! We decided to turn around about 5kms in, but it was still beautiful and fun. In the evening, Brian and I went out for dinner to Flores & Pine, which opened up near us. It is a beautiful restaurant, and the food was delicious.

We had a slow morning on Sunday as it was chilly out. I did lots of cleaning, etc around the house. We decided to bundle the kids up and went to Nose Hill to walk/throw the ball for Harley.

We ended the day with cake and singing with the kids. A great way to end a wonderful birthday weekend!

  1. Burr - that is a cold weekend! I am just not ready for cold temps yet, but ready or not they have arrived. It's not as cold here but it's definitely not 'nice'. Paul is terrible about keeping his hat and mittens on so I have a hard time taking him for walks as I know he is going to get so cold. They go outside every day at school as long as the weather isn't awful so hopefully they'll get him to accept that he has to wear a hat and mittens!

It's nice that your birthday fell on a weekend! I love when that happens. Nice that you got to enjoy some time with friends and also got a date night in with Brian!

  2. Looks like an awesome birthday weekend! So glad you got to fit in running with friends, a date with Brian and also family time outside. Sounds pretty perfect to me. I am so not ready for the cold temperatures. We've had two snowfalls already but both have melted pretty fast. yesterday afternoon I ran outside in a tshirt which is unheard of for the end of October!!
